Nigerians are too emotional, they don't do critical analysis. Even though, I know this is a sponsored post against ezetee.
For the record, record labels owners spend a lot of money before many artistes get fame, some may not get the fame and make money which is a loss to the label.
Rekado banks, Run town, Korede Bello, lil Kesh etc. See as their career get Kwashiokor. Our musician should learn to seperate label business from music. Your talent is useless without the push from the label.
Tell me wetin Rema de sing but see as he de blow up and down. They keep pushing his trash to our nose till we all started liking his music.
Rekado banks is a better artist compare to Rema but when he started getting money, he left his label now he is struggling

Nigerian are unnecessarily emotional

Most producers spend fortunes on artists that will refuse to blow, even the ones that blow will start acting demi god like they were blind when signing

No mercy, you have bloggers, EFCC and definitely so many dickers

Mercy you are a liar and a thief!! Same goes for all of them.
Church na money making organization… they are like a drug cartel. They will fight to defend their source of income and the good news is that the industry prosper because of the large markets of idiots (gullible followers) ready to submit their brain to be deceived

Never sign a contract you don't understand or without a lawyer explaining in details to you first.

The record label owner take huge risk...what if she didn't blow??

No be the guy go loose.

Nigerians are sentimental.

Mercy Chinwo was signed into a contract.. With 50/50 revenue formula.

2022/2023 royalty was paused why?
Mercy was going for event behind back take revenue 100%

She froze the label account. Arrest the boss for 9 days.

Collected over 270k US Dollars while the boss was in detention.

Only admit to collect just 3500 dollars. After all the collaboration n church programme she went

Boss said no, let them audit both accounts to cross check. Mercy no gree.

Mercy wants to even collect all music catalogue (including YouTube n all social accounts)

Musician will rush to sign a recording deal with a label because you want to blow.

You won’t take time to read and understand what is in the deal. After you blow finish you go come remember say na 30K dem dey pay u as salary and start looking for ways to sabotage the deal you hurriedly signed.

Label wey sign you without knowing if you’ll be successful or not is taking a bigger risk.

Can you explain the relationship between mercy's issues with her record label and the church

If church is a money making organisation, what is a mosque. Terrorist making organisation abi?

Face your life. Mercy is not the reason you're not able to blow. She's fighting for her own freedom.

All these clowns defending rapacious music label bosses so not realise that most of the musical groups in this country from plantashun Bois to psquare broke up because of the greed of the label bosses.

Most of those labels are exploitative. They have led to the waste of so many talents. Mohbad is one who had to pay with his life out of their excesses.

If Nigeria was a sane society, how can you take 100% of a musician's royalties. Even big football brands such as Man utd or RM don't dare do that to their stars.

All such contracts are illegal. They are slavery and exploitative and should be cancelled

If there are royalty disputes, they should handle it legally and professionally. Fans dragging the matter online won’t change much, and in the end, both parties need to find common ground.

If you are not privy to music business no chook mouth for their mata.

Statements, counter statements from both of them are too much. Let the courts decide o jare.

Nobody should sha drag the church into their matter that's my own.

Why attacking me?

Did you see her video on instagram?
Did she try to manipulate the public or not?

Yes or no?

Did she try to tarnish a man by using female crocodile tears and victim party tears to justify her cunning ways?

Why do you people love to defend the wrong things? Why are you Nigerians devoid of critical thinking?

Why??

Next is to come an attack me and make assumptions I’m a Muslim… but can’t you face the issue like a man?? Why are you people like this?

And what has tribe has to do with this… same me here several times attack Yoruba pastors. I even created a thread bashing TB Joshua and other Nigerian Yoruba pastors… did I say because they are my tribe I will pretend that they are doing the right things

Well, it's fair or unfair (depending on your perspective) that Eezee is the scapegoat in something that we all know has been going on in Naija and foreign music industries for decades.

The biggest blame for me should go to the artistes themselves and the lawlessness of this nation with regards to artistic rights.

This is what happens (and will keep happening) when good lawyers are not involved before the signing of legally binding contracts of service between upcoming stars and these hardhearted and greedy Record labels.

When you sign contracts before reading between the lines, you will speak grammar taya in the future... No Judge will bend the contract laws out of pity for you in court.

For instance, see what the following suffered at the hands of record labels:

1. Cynthia Morgan
2. Kizz Daniels
3. Brymo
...Just to mention a few.

I saw the video
The question is why link the church to a purely business disagreement between a music label and their star. Is this the first of such disagreement?
Can you think beyond bigotry? Cause it seems your grouse with mercy is that she's a gospel music star and not the main issue.

FYI I saw the video and I've read the story. The label is wrong. Nowhere in any sane society does a label take 100% royalty. Not even the Sony or Universal records of this world do that.

The label bosses in Nigeria are just criminal. MJ's family is still benefiting from his royalties till today

Most labels stick to their terms but most artest don't along the line.

When they are broke, they run to music labels to help them but as money flows in they realised label boss takes larger junk

Some will claim they don't know or read what they signed. Cynthia Morgan even signed her name to p square group then..
