Former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo, has been inducted into Olympique Marseille’s prestigious Hall of Fame.

Hall of fame votes usually happen years after the player has left.

Using an example from the game of American football...for a player to be voted into their hall of fame, no matter how good he was, he must have been retired for at least 5 years.

It is not usually given to people when they are still actively playing, but after they're retired from the sport. It's only in exceptional cases that you'd find an active player being inducted into the hall of fame.

Ashley Cole was just inducted into the Premier League's hall of fame in 2024. Lebron James, despite his achievements in the NBA is yet to be inducted into the hall of fame, this is someone who's one of the longest playing basketballers in American history. . .

So understand the concept first.

Taiwo our Nigerian Hulk. He was a monster during the 2005 U-20 World Cup alongside Mikeal. But it was unfortunate they were in the same competition wit the GOAT of football who denied Nigeria the World Cup trophy. I luv his humility. Congrats.
