Oga, this is the same propaganda they propagated during the Obi/Atiku petitions. That APC and INEC closed their cases without witnesses. It turned out Obi and Atiku had no case so nothing to defend.

If your case is flimsy, there is nothing to defend. Carrying ballot boxes and BVAS machines to court without referencing how they support your charge of rigging is not a case.

I don’t know what transpired in court but a defense teams closes it case without defense, I think you should be worried that your case was probably so flimsy it wasn’t worthy of a defense.
its like your block and bias head has not comprehrnded this yet. Ok let me make it clear. Gov Monday has lost thos case 80%

You don't know what happened in court but you have been blowing strong grammar on what you do not know anything about
This is beyond shameful
To educate your ignorance, the defense team should apply for a no case submission if they feel there's nothing to defend and not your useless idea of refusing to put up a defense because there's nothing to defend
That's what happened in the Presidential Tribunal and the no case plea was dismissed. I know you're not aware of this cause you're so shockingly ignorant of basic facts but very loud in your take on issues

ALTERNATEID:
Edo PDP's case is similar to Peter Obi's case against Tinubu's election. They couldn't produce a single evidence of rigging or wrongdoing so there is no need for INEC to waste time and be calling witness to defend allegations that were not even proved by the petitioner.

The Edo governorship election has been won and lost. The ongoing case is nothing but an academic exercise.
You are very dumb....

Obi went to download IREV...

Everything PDP has presented here are CTC's....

Look. I don’t know what transpired in court and I don’t need to know. Neither do I care. I am not from Edo, I am not a fan of either of the candidates. I have no skin in the game and do not care who becomes governor of Edo. My comment was in response to the assumption that because INEC or other defendants rested without producing witnesses, they have lost the case.

We have been here before. If your case is flimsy, then a defendant has nothing to defend and can rest without calling witnesses. Same happened at the PEPT.

My comment is not to suppprt either party. It is just to say a defense will call witnesses based on the strength of your case and May chose not to call any based on the weakness of your case. Note it is not the defenfldant that has to prove but the plaintiff. If the plaintiff has not proved anything in the eyes of the defense, it is the right of the defense to rest his case without calling witnesses.

It could also mean he has no case. What I am saying is don’t assume anything because a defense rests without calling any witness.
I don’t have to know the facts of the case to say what I said. This is a fact!

You seem to know more, so perhaps as you are so knowledgeable you can enlighten us on the evidence provided in court that gives you the 80% certainty you claim? I am almost certain you can’t provide the legal arguments and evidence upon which your 80% confidence is anchored

They didn't fail, they know they don't need to prove anything, they know the judges know what to do. Nigeria is a failed country.

And if the Election is mistakenly annull the rerun will be worst because apc will do what will shock everybody and othinanyone can do about it.

Another biased write up. It is actually the best move since pdp and Ighodalo have already bungled their own case via their funny witnesses. The defence will just rely on the testimonies extracted from the pdp witnesses which has already damaged their case.calling new witnesses is not necessary

Inec have no case to defend because they have nothing to loose no matter who wins the case hence no need spending scarce resources on witnesses who may even end up exposing them the more . Thus na APC get case so let them do the needful

It's a clearly written script they are following. They did same during the last general election Tribunal for Presidential.

This, on its own should be an indictment.. but when you already know the judgement, why waste your time and energy on witnesses.

There is A difference Between Obi/Atiku PEPT and what transpire at Edo Tribunal

PDP Present their Evidences as they seem satsified by them, left to court to decide.

This is what they actually did in the Court.

1. Present areas where results where manipulated.

2. Present Agent Copies of the Various affected PU and also the CTC copies of each PU, Also the BVAS Machines Reports of each.

3. In addition since majority of the manipulations happens at the Ward and LGA collation. PDP Presents CTC of each Affected wards and LGA with Witnesses from those wards and LGA with selected PU Witnesses (Agents) to currborate their case.

In OBI/Atiku case.

1. No BVAS Report, (Just the Downloaded IREV Results Sheets)
2. No PU Agent Form EC8 nor it's CTC
3. Their cases where hinged largely on the last card which is the Chicago case, Remember INEC format the BVAS for the HOA Election back then, on the bases of which the Cases was affected by then

You now see the differences between the 2 case

Yesterday or the day before I posted that BVAS and EC8 are the only proof of rigging because to me that signaled that PDP have a genuine case and it is something I have said time and time again that the only prooof and evidence of rigging you need or that matters in court are BVAS and EC8. Immediately someone I assume is sympathetic to PDP saw my post as favourable. I made a dispassionate comment like I said I have no skin in the game and don’t care who is governor.

Immediately after someone who might be sympathetic to APC posted that although they presented BVAS ‘ in court they made no reference to them in their case. In which case I pointed out that I hope this is not another Obi/Atiku deception where the goal was to fool their supporters into thinking they had a case. Immediately the same PDP guys came after me.

Let me stress once again that I have no skin in this game. Let me also stress once again that the only way to prove rigging is the BVAS for over voting and EC8 for altered results. You say they presented and reference these in court, the other guy says they presented but made no reference to them in court (Obi/Atiku style).

I dont know which is which and I really do not care. I really don’t think any of them is going to take Edo to the promised land. I believe Ighodalo is an out of touch elitist Uncle Tom in the like of Obaseki who they say has little to show and the other guy is a village eediot style buffooon. I don’t like anything PDP but I also believe Monday is likely to be worse than Adeleke in Osun. I never thought we could have a worse governor till APC put forward Monday! So as a neutral observer, I don’t care which of them become governor. I am just commenting on the court process.

My post here was simply procedural so to speak to say that silence and failure to present a witness does not mean guilt. It depends on what what put forward by the plaintiff. The burden of proof is on the plaintiff. If they have done as said and the numbers add up then no judge can find otherwise. However if they simply went to court for show and did not prove rigging or if the rigged numbers were not enough to overturn the result (as in Imo) then the defendants can keep quiet.

The point is failure to present a witness does not mean it is a slam dunk for PDP. The defense responds last. If they look at the case presented by the plaintiff, they may decide to rest because in their assessment it is not strong or strong enough or it may be a sign of guilt. One cannot say unless one knows what was presented and referenced by the plaintiffs.

Thanks for your perspective anyhow.

There are 2 types of candidates
1) people who are familiar to the people e.g Monday
2) people who are installed and hence beholden to godfathers but have no political capital of their own.

Rarely do you see a sound candidate who is in touch with the people to be able to contest and win in his own right.

If good people stay away from politics but more importantly remain in the cities distant from the grassroots. These are the only people that can emerge!

The environment is too toxic for such to emerge.

The people have also been impoverished to believe that 500naira salt and rice during campaign is all that is needed coupled with the state machineries deployed to muscle out the opposition during elections
