Arresting someone because of slippers clearly shows the poverty mentality, effrontery, desperation and wickedness. How would you classify a thief in any way?

First, let's be honest. We should blame his friend who stole something that doesn't belong to him, not the police who arrested them.

I follow his benefactor on Tiktok from the day he went to court and there was no one to bail him, to how the benefactor through the help of online donations was able to pay his hospital bill and now lives with him.
The guy said that in prison in the cell that he was in that every morning when they wake up 3, 4,5 etc people would have died and the warders would tell them to throw them in the River.
He also said that all those food that people bring for prisoners are usually cornered by the wardens. And that they were always thirsty and underfed.
Nigerian prison and the courts system needs a complete review IMHO

Probably, insulted and dared the owner after taking them. They said slippers N100, is slippers even N100? What if it is? It was bought with their hard earned money.
Probably, they dared the people and those ones too didn't know the matter will escalate to that level.

What of the so-called "friend" who left prison and never looked back, never tried to see how he could help the person he put in jail?

This is the problem with Nigerians, we are always emotional about everything, the court of law is not there to prove your innocence, but to determine wether you are guilty or not guilty, if you are innocent but can't prove you are not guilty lawfully, you will definitely be found guilty.

That is why terrible people that have killed people can be set free if they can prove they are not guilty.
