Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has dissolved the State Executive Council and appointed Labaran Magaji, the immediate past Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Magaji was sworn in at a ceremony held at the Government House in Lafia on Friday, with Governor Sule explaining that the shake-up was necessary to enhance service delivery in the state.

Why the Cabinet Was Dissolved

Speaking at the event, Governor Sule stated that the decision to dissolve the executive council and relieve the former SSG, Muhammad Aliyu, of his duties was part of efforts to restructure and refocus governance in the state.

“This was done to bring in new hands that would bring fresh perspectives into the system, enhancing our capacity to deliver quality service for the progress and development of our dear state,” he said.

Why Magaji Was Chosen as SSG

The governor described the Office of the SSG as the engine room of government, requiring an individual with deep knowledge of governance and administration. He highlighted Magaji’s legal expertise, public service experience, and commitment to Nasarawa’s development as key factors behind his appointment.

“Barr. Labaran Magaji is a legal luminary, technocrat with global experience, and an unassuming politician who has served Nasarawa and Nigeria in various capacities. His contributions to our administration and Project Nasarawa are legendary.”

Sule expressed confidence that Magaji’s loyalty, competence, and dedication would further advance the administration’s goals.

Outgoing Cabinet Members Appreciated

Governor Sule also thanked the outgoing executive council members, including the former SSG, Muhammad Aliyu, for their service and contributions to the state.

Magaji Pledges Commitment

In his vote of thanks, Magaji expressed gratitude to the governor for the trust placed in him and promised to hit the ground running.

“I pledge my total loyalty to His Excellency and the good people of Nasarawa State. I will work diligently to ensure that the governor’s vision for a better Nasarawa is fully realized.”

The governor is expected to announce a new executive council in the coming days.

Have you been to Nasarawa State? If you have, for every Almakura's project you list, I will list two or three that this current government has done.
I don't like the man but I will give him credit where he has performed. Presently, no pasta government have his records.
