What if at the point of operating the ATM, one unscruplous being pretended to tried to assist the woman while peeping her PIN then distract her to swap the ATM card with a reported or lost ATM card then the ATM Terminal trapped the card as a result of the swapped card already reported lost. Then the unscrupulous being took the card and the PIN to a nearest POS Agent to.withdraw the money in the account since he/she already has the woman's ATM card and PIN. We need to be sure of what happen at the scene.

If there's a check by your narrative and the card was seized for 10 minutes, the bank will still be held responsible.

All these can be check from the backend and even CCTV.

Not the bank but someone next to her on the queue or bank security guy at ATM.

I once saw a card rejected by the ATM when I wanted to withdraw that evening. I called the security guy in the bank and gave it to him.

I hardly use POS for any transaction. All my cash withdrawals are via ATM and I have many around my office vicinity.

I can’t even remember the last time I patronised a POS vendor.

ogah you talk like a novies, how does using your personal ATM concerned security? Is security the one paying customer? You better be enlight, what happened most cases is that, some customer seek the help of a total stranger instead of conduct a security man there, at the process the strange person now swap their card with damage card inside the ATM and the strange person will make them believe that the ATM card is stuck in the ATM

Are you not shocked by how many daft people that exists here jumping to conclusions that it's the bank. Calling bankers all sorts of names when this is a clear case of card swap scam.

What happened was that someone at the ATM gallery standing behind the woman swapped her card. This is not the first time something like is happening. The woman might be struggling to use the ATM and the person behind her seeing her struggling to operate the machine will comes close to assist by telling the woman to enter her PIN, after entering her PIN the guy will press cancel and remove d card and swap it with blocked Atm card. When inserting d blocked Atm card into d machine, d machine will display a notice on the screen that the card has blocked and it will seize it. It's not security guy or the bank that withdrew her money. It was due to ignorance. The woman should go to her bank on Monday so dat they can show her CCTV footage.

Stingy people do. They will not want to pay POS charge.
Many of the learnt the hard way later.

It happened to one of my guy in Benin. His was a sorry case. One guy managed to swap his card as they were trying trying their luck with the machine due to network or God knows what.

All he told me was, let's go the ATM didn't work.

We had hardly gotten home when alerts start rolling in.

Before we could make it to the bank, 190k is gone and d criminal used the remaining 2k to buy card.

Meanwhile he would have collected the needed 30k from POS jejely but avoiding charges

Bank don't returned seize card, they will ask you to get new one.

Her card was with the bank, so the bank are fully responsible and will pay her back every penny.

Withdrawal from POS means the withdrawal was with the card.

Some PIN are easily guessed, in most part of the north the ATM PINs is usually 1234, 0000 (any repetitive numbers aside 0) or even the DOB of the account owners.
