There is racism. Racism created a global financial system that only favors whyte countries that is one of the reasons why black countries can't make enough money to cater to their citizens. The system is created to ensure black people leave their countries and move to whyte countries. The major cause of Nigeria's poverty and under-development is the Western institutions that don't want to see any black nation prosper.. It is western influence that made t:inuboooo to devalue the naira which spoilt the purchasing power of every Nigerian. you guys don't understand their hatred for black people globally especially those in Africa.. india annual budget is ₹48 trillion which is equal to $560 billion ( with a population over 1.4billion people while Nigeria annual budget is ₦49 trillion which is equal to $30 billion ( with a population of 200million people ).. my point is Western powers claim Nigeria's population is the reason for ₦ Naira's bad currency conversion to the dollar..
but India with a population 7 seven times Nigeria's own is not affected by the same policy that causes Nigeria's bad currency conversion to the dollar..if you reduce india annual budget to ₹28 trillion similar to Nigeria ₦28 trillion..india's ₹28 trillion is still equal to $326 billion...
the Naira is a weapon fashioned against Nigeria and Nigerians by the Western powers.

While a drastic devaluation is bad for the economy and inhabitants, the major problem we have is that we are not a production oriented country. We don't manufacture as much as India and we still import some produce even when we were once a major producer or actually the number one producer. We produce cassava more than any country, but Thailand Vietnam export more derivatives of cassava than we do. We import ethanol and cassava starch. We imported 20BN worth of palm oil.

A devalued naira would be beneficial once we become more productive. The JPY and SK WON are very devalued, but they are highly productive countries. China still maintains a devalued Yuan. The naira's value isn't the problem, but our production levels.

no matter how productive and production oriented we are and become. it will never change the economy to a positive economy in the global scheme which also means the Nigerian economy will also not change due to the fact that prices of goods are priced almost at the dollar equivalent.. the countries you mentioned are not black African countries and do not qualify to be compared to Nigeria because the skin color of Thailand, China, JPY, SK e.t.c. automatically means they will be favored over black African people and countries no matter how production oriented black Africa becomes.please stop deceiving yourself that the production levels is the cause.. the Naira to dollar rate will always be very wide....if we go by your logic then how come in the 1960s without crude oil exports Naira had a good exchange rate with most international currencies despite the low production capacity and levels of that era...
