21st century best 11 for Madrid without Marcelo is not complete. This kind of list isn't always about position because most times they don't and will never play together in real life, for that reason, I'll take out Pepe and replace him with Marcelo. Even Varane had a better Madrid career than Pepe.

21st century but I don't understand the counting. where is Mr Madrid? If Zidane, fenomeno made the list then Mr Madrid should be there. I'm talking about the legendary Raul Gonzalez. R9 shouldn't be there because his prime years was at Inter. Still a Madrid legend but no way near Raul or even Fernando Morientes.

Another player who's not on the list is Fernando Hiero; arguably top 5 player for Madrid and of course not on the list. For Madrid, I'll go for Casilas, Carvayal, Ramos, Carlos, Marcelo, Modric, Fernando Hiero, Zidane, Raul, Bezeama and CR7. Remember, the actual position won't matter much as I can have Hiero as a sweeper CB then have Marcelo as a left winger.

For Barca, the list is just about right but I'll take Alba out for Pique. Pique is ranked very high by uefa and made the list of the best uefa team. In an actual game, I'll replace Alba with Abidal, then take Neymar out for Pique. In an actual game for Madrid, I'll replace Marcelo or Carlos(both are of equal quality) for Varane.

One of the reasons why I was hesitant with Araujo walking straight back into this team cos I always knew he'd struggle with this offside set-up especially not starting out with the team beginning of the season.
