Moreover, the Southwest's traditional courts, far from being revitalized, lie dormant. The introduction of Sharia courts would inevitably create a parallel legal system, fostering an atmosphere of competitive jurisdiction that would inexorably lead to conflict.

The potential consequences of such a development are nothing short of alarming. Muslims, compelled to submit to the authority of traditional shrines, would be exposed to the capricious whims of ancient deities, with the very real prospect of being subjected to draconian punishments, including beheading or ritualistic slaughter.

The fact that Muslims in Kwara State resisted the traditionalists celebrating their festivals serves as a harbinger of the strife that would inevitably accompany the introduction of Sharia courts in the Southwest.

Ultimately, the only pragmatic solution lies in Muslims availing themselves of the existing legal framework, drafting wills and adhering to extant land laws, rather than seeking to impose a parallel legal system that would only serve to exacerbate tensions.

In addition, The recent detention of a monarch under common law serves as a poignant reminder of the inherent contradictions that would arise from the parallel operation of Yoruba traditional law in Nigeria. Under the auspices of Yoruba tradition, which posits monarchs as divine deputies, it is unlikely that such a figure would be subjected to the indignity of summons, let alone detention.

Yet, the prospect of operating parallel legal systems in the Southwest is a recipe for cataclysmic conflict. The Yoruba people, in unison, reject this eventuality, recognizing that the confluence of disparate legal systems would inevitably lead to strife.

Furthermore, the Yoruba people remain steadfast in their opposition to the importation of customs and practices that run antithetical to their values. The condoning of consanguineous marriages and the toleration of paedophilia, inherent to certain iterations of Sharia law, are an affront to the very fabric of Yoruba society.

In unequivocal terms, the Yoruba people reject the imposition of these alien norms, recognizing that their assimilation would irreparably erode the moral foundations of their community.
