I have two job opportunities and I'm a bit confused on the one to go for. I'm part of a club of all stars footballers, that is mature men that love playing football, while I'm 32 I'm still by the far the youngest amongst them and also not financially in their bracket. It's more like a privilege being in their midst. Due to how I carry myself I was elected as secretary of the club. Now here's the dilemma. The chairman and patron of the club noticed that I've been struggling financially, the chairman helps me to pay some of the dues. While I have a 50k job that I do remotely we all know how the economy is right now so they've been making efforts to fix me up somewhere. Option 1: They approached the richest man in the club though he's not really active, the man owns many businesses and hotels in town, he asked them to give him time to think over it. I met him yesterday and he said he wants to hand off the bar in his hotel to me because it's being mismanaged by the girls there, more like the workers in the bar would be under me. But he's still trying to arrange for an room for me there so I can be sleeping there then go home in the morning. Another option is to audit his other business which I can be doing from a separate office, while the 3rd option is about another place that he's yet to open because it's still under construction so I would probably manage it after completion, I don't know the details of that one. He asked me to give him a week so he will decide on the best option that would suit the both of us. Option 2: Another well to do member was also contacted though he's much younger probably mid to late 40s. He's into solar installation and a well connected man. He's offering to pay me to work for him while I also learn the trade. He's also aware that I'm talking to the first man. When he was contacted he first asked how much the first man was offering to pay me, we told him that we haven't reached an agreement yet. Now the issue is that the chairman prefers option A because the man is an elder and an already established man that won't give me issues. The second man is widely known to be arrogant and a bragat, if I run any side hustle and get some money he will likely accuse me of stealing or if I establish something else he will go around telling people that I stole his money to establish my business. Dealing with him is difficult and he would tarnish my image if anything goes wrong. On the other hand, the patron thinks that option B is better because I will pick up a valuable skill while getting paid. Also the second man is younger and a hustler so I will learn a lot of things from him. While I would prefer option B, I a bit skeptical about dealing with the man because I wouldn't want anything that will ruin the reputation that I'm building up, I'm 32 years and time is going fast so please I need your opinions on the matter. |

Bros. Just go with your guts. We can't advise you on this. You alone knows what is best. Please can you connect me to the remote job that pays you 50k? I'm about the same age as you. I really need something doing. Please Modified : Anything you do, avoid the braggart. |

What a complex and nuanced decision! Firstly, kudos to you for being part of a prestigious football club and being recognized for your leadership skills as secretary. Now, let's weigh the pros and cons of each option: *Option A: Working with the wealthy hotel owner* Pros: 1. Potential for a stable income and benefits (e.g., accommodation) 2. Opportunity to manage a business and gain experience 3. Backing of the chairman, who seems to have a good relationship with the owner Cons: 1. Uncertainty about the specific role and responsibilities 2. Possibility of being tied to the hotel, with limited flexibility 3. Dependence on the owner's goodwill and decisions *Option B: Working with the solar installation entrepreneur* Pros: 1. Opportunity to learn a valuable skill and gain experience in a growing industry 2. Potential for a stable income and benefits 3. Working with a younger, more dynamic entrepreneur who may offer more flexibility and opportunities for growth Cons: 1. Concerns about the entrepreneur's reputation and potential for conflict 2. Risk of being accused of misconduct or theft if things go wrong 3. Uncertainty about the specific role and responsibilities Considering your concerns and priorities, here are some thoughts: 1. *Reputation and integrity*: Option A seems to offer a more stable and secure environment, with less risk of reputational damage. However, Option B could provide valuable skills and experience, which might outweigh the risks. 2. *Personal growth and development*: Option B seems to offer more opportunities for learning and growth, which might be essential for your long-term career goals. 3. *Financial stability*: Both options seem to offer a stable income, but Option A might provide more benefits and perks. Ultimately, the decision depends on your priorities, risk tolerance, and personal values. You may want to consider the following: 1. Have an open and honest conversation with both parties to clarify expectations, roles, and responsibilities. 2. Assess the potential risks and mitigants for each option. 3. Reflect on your long-term career goals and how each option aligns with them. 4. Seek advice from trusted mentors or professionals in your network. Which option do you think you're leaning towards, and what are your main concerns? Lakebib: |
