Judolisco:Let's do better when it comes to reading. 1. The case was on the 2024 budget presentation which has been spent and concluded and is hereby Academic. 2. The money was awarded to Rivers State a house of Assembly of which Martin is not a part of as of now. Let's do better with reading. |

Bobodee09:There is nothing left to adjudicate, 2024 is gone hence Fubara case will be dismissed ( Fubara has already implemented budget, case closed). Martin should now request through the courts that 2025 budget be presented before him |

Xisnin:The ruling didn't stop Fubara from presenting future budgets to the Oko Jumbo led faction. The ruling was centered on 2024 budget. Fubara will definitely present 2026 budget to Oko Jumbo if Amaewule didn't apply to the court to force him to do otherwise. |

Fubara's team WITHDREW the appeal ahead of time because "Event and developments have already overshadowed the need for such appeal" Please restless trouble-shooters of Nairaland, (Fubara and Wike's supporters alike) hope you understand that. Let your reactions and responses be within the light of this understanding; Because it's derailing from the meat of the issues and recoursing to HATE and BIGOTRY that is the nemesis of you people here and the nemesis of Nigeria at large Be letting Nigeria(ns) breathe pls |
| Re: Supreme Court dismisses Fubara's appeal on re-presenting 2024 budget by SSpeter(m): 5:13pm On Feb 10, 2025 |
Bobodee09:the cases were in respect of 2024 budget, presently the budget has been fully implemented by Fubara, hence there is no case to adjudicate. Martin should go back to the high court to request a re-representation of the 2025 budget and before the case gets to the supreme Court, we will be in 2026 and the case will die a natural death ☠️ |

Judolisco:You don't understand and you are making a wrong remark. 2024 budget is fully spent and retired. Fubara withdrew the case. |

Some people go still interpret somehow. It didn't say Fubara lost the appeal, it only says the supreme court reserve the matter to be heard. Before giving out final judgment |

Judolisco:Try read again. He no collect anything. He withdraw the case, hence the court dismissed it. Mind you we are now in 2025. That 2024 budget no dey relevant again. As for the 2m, he has to pay it. But we all know it's the state government (executive) that will pay the money. |

It was Fabura that withdrew the case so the next thing is to dismiss it. No judgement at all Apel147: |
| Re: Supreme Court dismisses Fubara's appeal on re-presenting 2024 budget by Dbegining: 5:17pm On Feb 10, 2025 |
Judolisco:The matter of Martin is still at the appeal court and the court has asked everyone to maintain status quo. Martin has not been affirmed by any competent court as the legitimate speaker of the house. So as of today, if that money is to be paid, it won't be paid to him. And don't digress that you weren't expecting the matter to be a matter of reinstatement of Martin which in truism, it is not. |

Arostar2023:No. It's you that is basking in your own ignorance. The fact that the plaintiffs requested that the case be struck out and dismissed despite Fubara officially withdrawing the suit before the Supreme Court should tell you that a legal precedence and court ruling has been established from the High Court up to the Supreme Court. And the ruling being that Fubara erred in presenting the 2024 appropriation budget for Rivers state before a five man assembly is null and void. What this means going forward is that Fubara can not present the budget for 2025 to his five man assembly and must thus recognise and present the 2025 budget before the full house with the remaining 27 members of the House reinstated and included in the day to day activities of the House. That is an automatic win for the plaintiffs who will now storm the Rivers assembly and begin impeachment moves on the Speaker and other remaining four members. From there, the reinstated speaker will now begin the process of removing Fubara from office for passing the appropriation budget without the House as stated in the Supreme court ruling. |

EmeeNaka:By implication, the judgement of the High Court stands and it is final. The Martin Awaewhule led Rivers State house of Assembly is the only recognized house of assembly and it is wrong and unconstitutional to do any legislative business with any other faction other than the house recognized by law. Again, when you withdraw your appeal at either the appeal or Supreme Court, it means you have accepted fully the judgement of the court of first instance. Those trying to explain this as nothing are simply trying to cover Fubara’s failure. The ropes are already tightening around his neck and it’s now a matter of time. copy |

Sometimes, it is important to think before you write. Social media is a tool for education as well. No matter your political bias, we learn everyday from each other. Now do you think Fubara doesn't know what he is doing? With all the cash at his disposal? You think only Wike can play politics? Let's dissect the issue of budget with an analogy. We all know budgets are time bound. Once expended you move on. You want to marry a wife, your family strongly kicks against it because she's white. "Oyibo women no dey stay" blah blah blah. You went ahead and married her. Your father ran to court to dissolve the marriage, saying he doesn't want the woman to give birth and all. Court adjourned. Several times. 4 years later. On judgement day. Your son's lawyers tell the court that this woman gave birth to 3 kids and they have been living here in Nigeria happy. We want you to strike out the matter because the kids have already been born. What they were trying to prevent has already happened. Case close. Court dismisses the application. Onto the next. He may know that presenting the budget to 5 persons isn't right but what will you do? Run to court? Before you get a decision 2026 budget is ready to be passed. Like that like that, his tenure ends he leaves. The 27 members who "defected" will speak English tire. They know what they are doing. Besides, there is a crack in the hierarchy of the PDP concerning the fate of the 27 defected HOA members. Acting National Chair Damagun says recontesting election is best for them. They are saying no sir, we didn't leave in the first place. So you can imagine the confusion within their ranks. Meanwhile, the law says when you decamp you forfeit your seat. So the question is: Did they decamp? That judgement is pending and time is going. Don't forget they swore an affidavit in an Abuja court to file thir defection to APC. Na long coster ride. Let's enjoy it. |

Bobodee09:Supreme Court has to dismiss the case because the budget can no longer be represented ( it is a void case, it is like getting a ruling to make a contractor build your house, but the contractor went to the court to challenge the ruling, while the case was on the contractor filed bankruptcy), and withdrew his challenge. What do you want the court to rule on? The contractor can no longer fulfill that requirement hence the court will dismiss his challenge. 2024 is gone with the wind |

Agugbadin:yes, you should at least answer the questions, who is paying who 2 million... Many of you don't know the implications of today's ruling...... This judgement and the earlier one has put to rest issues surrounding the position of the 27 lawmakers, who had been entangled in a prolonged legal and political battle with the governor. |
