I took my time to carefully scrutinize the video and because I recognize that I may be wrong with my earlier post. However, on close examination, I am doubling down on my stance for the following reasons::

Image highlight #1 - In the image below, the lecturer slightly shoved and objectively speaking, that is classified as assault under the Nigerian law

Section 252 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act defines assault as striking, touching, or applying force to another person without their consent.

Reiterating my earlier point, if she was truly obstructing the way, the lecturer could have verbally asked her to make way or utilize the ample space behind her.


Image Highlight #2 - According to corroborative testimonies from the lecturer and the student, the lecturer returned after she verbally criticized his behavior. Basically, he returned to verify if she was a student and subsequently attempted to seize her phone.

My perspective
First, the lecturer's[b] return to the site of incident was a clear escalation of a situation that would have diffused.[/b] Beyond that, he tried to perform the job of a security personnel by making inquiries of the student instead of deferring to trained security persons if he had doubt on the student's right to be within the school premises.

His subsequent attempt to seize the phone is completely illegal and also classified as robbery in the Nigerian constitution. Section 401–403 define and prescribe punishments for robbery.
Robbery is generally defined as stealing with the use of force or violence.

I can go further but based on my careful scrutinization of the video, the student is well within her right to defend herself and the lecturer must be re-trained to understand his job functions as well as compensate the student for the damaged phone.

If the school decides to punish the student, I will advise her to get a good attorney, make an official report against the lecturer to start a criminal case then file charges in a competent court of law. Based on what I see, I can almost guarantee an unbiased judge will quickly adjudicate in her favour!

It's so sad that the lecturer and school authorities will be forced to forgive this animal of a girl just because her dad is a fellow lecturer and her useless mom will not allow the man rest if he doesn't make sure she's forgiven. She should immediately be arrested and charged for assault and battery or given a four semester suspension to teach the 300 level old foôl how to concentrate on studies instead of TikTok

What kind of rubbish video is this, why didn't she post the whole invent especially what she said to the lecturer that made him react?
Normally, some lecturers see students as children and the tapping on her shoulder is mostly done by elders.
I believe she already has animosity towards the lecturer before this incidence.
These are the kind of girls a sensible guy should avoid because small issue she may accuse guy man of rape.

There was no reason for the lecturer to tap her. He could've easily asked for her to make room but based on the video, it appeared there was ample room in the back for the lecturer to pass through.

Her verbal insult of the lecturer is not a crime.

However, the lecturer's attempt to grab her phone and force her to delete the video could equate to theft.
