Two weeks ago, I attempted to renew my international passport using the Nigeria Immigration Service's DIY (self-service) platform. Unfortunately, the system couldn't capture my passport photograph for some reason.

A few days later, I decided to visit the immigration office in Jos to complete the process in person. To my surprise, I was told that the 32-page, 5-year passport would cost ₦75,000, even though I was aware that the official fee online is ₦50,000.

Frustrated, I returned home. Fortunately, I later managed to successfully upload my passport photograph on the DIY platform, and the system processed my application. I paid ₦50,500 online and was scheduled for biometric capture on February 3rd.

On the scheduled date, I went to the immigration office, where I was attended to promptly. However, I was asked to pay an additional ₦3,000 for processing, which I did.

To my surprise, I received a call today, February 12th, to pick up my new passport—just 9 days after my capture!

I've heard many people say it took them months to get their renewed passports. So, I'm curious—how long did it take for you to get yours? Share your experience!

Didn't know the orocess has become more EFFICIENT.

By the way, the 50% increase in price for in-person processing is PROOF that Nigerians would readily SABOTAGE viable systems because of their unquenchable GREED.

The average Nigerian is so WICKED and GREEDY that their constant complaints about wicked and greedy Politicians is LAUGHABLE.

What documents is required please. Mine expired 2 years ago.

How did you resolve the issue of uploading your passport photograph?because it seem that's the most difficult part in DIY processing.

Looks like the DIY platform is the hack for a fast Nigerian passport, if you dodge the extra fees! 💪

Once you meet all other criteria for the photograph, you will need to change to dpi of the image to 600.

Google search change dpi of image online. There are many online platforms to do that. Just change the dpi to 600 and download it. You should be fine with that one

Ok, thanks for the answer,so many are facing this particular issue as we speak and they tend to run to this immigration officers ,thereby creating an avenue to be exploited beyond what they budget .

It was because of the frustration that I went to them. I did not need anybody to advise me to go back and find a way around it🤣

Good you made efforts to do it yourself. And thank God they did not tell you to go call your grandma from the village, or strike out your application and asked you to start all over again. This is the main reason many Nigerians enable corrupt govt officials. They are not ready to read through and follow the process. Maybe you got it so fast because you live in Jos (we always here that it it quicker in the North because of low traffic). But lets hope it remains so. I'll be renewing mine later this year.

The biggest and most important prayer is that, MAY WE NOT BE RENEWING EMPTY PASSPORT ALL THE TIME

Your photo dimension must be 600×800

The document is Nigerian Passport, not international passport. Other countries have theirs - Canadian passport, Russian passport, Angolan passport etc. There is no passport called international passport.
Maybe people add international to distinguish it from the small photograph usually attached to ID cards and other documents. But the small photograph is called "passport photo" (not just passport), while the travel document is "Nigerian passport" (not international passport).

I still don't know the meaning of "international passport"?
