You can't do nasic maths?
femisplash:
This is quite an ambitious target, $200b in 10years. If you ask me why I'm screaming, you may soon find out. As I was saying, this could be likened to "project rebuilding the SE". Going by the figures in the article, SE economy is currently at $40b, which means the plan is to increase the GDP by 20%, an average of 2% a year.
The FG's projection is a $1trillion GDP by 2030. That's a 5year plan ( medium), compared to SouthEast's $200b in 10years, which could be estimated at $100b in 5years. Therefore, in 5years, SE is projecting a 10% of Nigeria's total GDP in 5years, that's quite ambitious, bro.

To settle pretty well into this, the start off approach has to be holistic, aggressive and effective. First off, the economic activities in the SE has to kick back up, which literary means that the unending sit at home has to come to an end immediately before other set goals will have to follow. Investment in the SE is absymally low both for local and FDI, that would have to improve and accelerated by every means necessary, more internet penetration, more bankable residents, and all of that, inorder to spread inclusivity to the far remote areas. More importantly, the larger majority have to change and redirect their mindsets towards Government's projects. The negative insinuations motivated by political colouration have to be reduced to the minimal. An instance where some group of people describe a costal project connecting the neighbouring SS states as an highway to fraud, is nothing but absolutely ridiculous. A $200billion regional economy will encourage as much as possible any infrastructural projects as massive as the coastal road project that will potentially open up the SE region to more economic attraction. Pls, you need to stop the pessimism about the project henceforth.
Then again, the SEDC board must be independent off the whims and caprices of the Governors. There will be a hell amount of pressure to embezzle and to share around some funds but they need to grow some ball of steel. The NASS members who nominated them will also be having a thirsty throat, wielding their power to remove and reshuffle the membership if they don't play ball.
I hope they will be able to handle all of these in the interests of the people. Hopefully, the new kids on the block (SEDC members) will prove to be different from the old salt ( the Governors).

Let me you, this time around, nobody will say the Govt has marginalized the SE any longer. You can't even dare open your mouth to cry about being marginalized. If you like don't get involved and hold them accountable for the billions that will be budgeted for projects in your region. If that idiot called Kanu had sense, he would form his own party and get involved rather than creating a terrorist wing killing his own people.
Oga just shut up for once.

Regional government already at play..... With time Nigerians will decide if they are still keeping state governments alongside or just maintaining only the 6 Regional governments.
How is it at play? With establishment of a commission? Oga just park abeg. What impact has NDDC achieved or the NEDC achieved for the north east? It still doesn't override the impact of state governors.

In no time Nigerians will appreciate PBAT for this regional development he started. No one seems to understand for now , we'll soon know the importance of what PBAT has set its foundation for us so , he declares subsidy is gone , LG autonomy , he pushed Tax reform and Now The whole region development commission established and this man said while he was very young that I never believed in one Nigeria . This man is breaking Nigeria away from the bondage of some few people and giving the power to regional development and no one is yet to see it . All of the west,East, north etc development committee were super headed by the each regional sons and daughters .. by the Time PBAT complete his 2terms everyone will mind developing his region and not minding other region.. I will fully campaign for PBAT 2027 ,Yayi and Oju-Eko..
Which Regional development? With the establishment of Regional commissions is that what you call it? We're you still in Diapers when Ompadec, NDDC and the likes were formed, what development did it bring? Buhari formed NEDC for the north east what development did it bring? Do you really need a development commission to bring development to a region?

The GDP of the Southeast region does not match that of Ogun State.

The most important catalyst for this plan is to have a viable Deep sea port for the SE region even if it means the Onne Port being put into full commercial use to service the South East. Next will be to get rail connections across all State of the SE and ensure the rail link has a spur to the dedicated Sea Port.
The Lagos Ports Complex will eventually lose some patronage due to the loss of the igbo importation business but the Lagos Ports will still thrive well.
In addition, at least 2 international Airports with huge cargo capacities and with direct flights to major world trade centers such as London, New York, Beijing, Dubai etc be established and promoted. The industrial capacity of the SE is not on doubt.

Oga the GDP of Ogun state last year was not up to Anambra state. Anambra's GDP was more than Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Oyo and Ekiti. I know it is a difficult pill to swallow but that is the fact.

Oga don't use that scope to run away from arguments. According to 2024 GDP figures, Anambra has a higher GDP than Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti. This is despite sit at home. Anambra has the highest number of indigenous manufacturers in Nigeria. Please note I said Indigenous, not the ones owned by Lebanese, Indians and Chinese.
