Oyetola Urges Security Agencies To Reinstate Osun LG Officials by press9jatv(op): 7:07pm On Feb 15, 2025
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Friday, urged security agencies in Osun State to take action and ensure that local government officials elected in the October 15, 2022, election resume their respective duty posts as soon as possible.

The Court of Appeal, Akure Division, recently upheld the appeal filed by the chairmen and councillors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, dismissing the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party against the election as presumptive.

Speaking in Osogbo during a meeting with the elected chairmen and councillors, Oyetola assured them that they would return to their offices, relying solely on the rule of law.

The former Osun governor, who was accompanied at the meeting by the state APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, and others, warned against acts of lawlessness.

Court of Appeal Judgment on Local Government in Osun and matters connected thereto.
By Ibrahim Lawal

On the strength of a judgment which the PDP Government got from the Federal High Court, Osogbo, the Governor of Osun dissolved a democratically elected Local Government chairmen and councillors.

The affected chairmen and Councillors approached the Court of Appeal for redress and the Court of Appeal ruled that the judgment through which those officers were dissolved had no foundation and therefore strike out the case for not disclosing reasonable cause of action.

The logical Implication is that there is no power to dissolve any democratically elected local government officials and what was done was done malafide.

The argument by some "putative lawyers" that the court did not specifically ordered the removed officers to go back to office is purile as it is elementary law that if a court has decided that it has no jurisdiction on a matter and decline jurisdiction, the Court will not consider any other reliefs stated in the process as court does nothing in vain.

The totality of what I am saying is that the Court of Appeal by its decision had gone back to what the situation was before the Federal High Court judgment, which is the elected Chairmen and Councillors in all the local Government in Osun State and any other interpretation apart from this is nothing but an exercise in futility.

Rather than resort to threat and violence, the Osun State Governor should eat a humble pie and accommodate those officers pending when their time will lapse.

Did the Court of Appeal state anywhere in its judgment that it granted the reliefs sought by the APC Local Government Fellows? Show us the CTC saying so. The court must pronounce positively on the reliefs claimed. The Court is not heard in silence. Bello V Odofin makes clear how a judgment looks like.

Those that did not go to university let alone law school are given interpretation of court of appeal judgment.
May be i should advise them to apply logic courses they did in school. May be it will help them to give reasonable interpretation of appeal court judgement.

I'm also not a partisan politician at least for now but I'm from Osun and I'm telling you what's happening here.

Adeleke second term chance is too tiny. Dancing nigga surrounded himself with baby politicians , especially his house speaker. If he ask that guy , the speaker to jump , he will gladly ask how high sir. The elders in the party has either left or sitting on the fence watching how he's governing the State. His family members are everywhere in his government. I have a lots of PDP members as friends that are not happy, ask press9jatv aka johnyessence who was one a die hard PDP member here on nairaland if I dey lie😆

Adeleke is just a typical opportunist, he came at a time that people are already fed up of Oyetola and are ready to vote even goat against him.
