10k USAID workers are people working directly at USAID and CDC Internationally.

But they engaged implementing partners who in turn engage CBOs and Facility health workers for the HIV Programme.

I can boldly tell you that more than 50k people are receiving salary through USAID funded programs in Nigeria. The data the Minister is quoting only captured those at the facility but excluded those from CBO, KP CBO, other programs like FMP, OTZ, SHE CENTERS Etc.

My sister is an FG worker. The method the Minister described is exactly how my sister became engaged with the FG.

When HIV program started in Nigeria in 2003,it was been implemented by US organisations in Nigeria. Around 2008 or 2009 they transitioned the program to Nigeria based Implementing Partners like APIN, CIHP, ARHF, HEARTLAND ALLAINCE and co.

My sister was working as a volunteer (adhoc staff) then at NIMR. during that period some of them working as Adhoc were transitioned to FG staff at NIMR.

But my fear now is how possible is it to transition 28,000 people considering the fact that State owned hospitals are involved.

Will the FG pay people working at GH Mushin, GH Isolo, Palm Avenue PHC all owned by the state. This facilities are also implementing CDC funded HIV programs.

Thank you for explaining to them. The support goes beyond treatment. In a particular health centre i know,HIV patients are called if they missed appointments and provided transport fare if that's the reason for not coming.I hope FG will still continue to do this
