A former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has dismissed the wave of defections in the NorthWest, saying they are driven by personal gains rather than the interest of the people.

Speaking with journalists after the maiden Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on Saturday, Tambuwal criticized defectors who align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that their motives are not rooted in public service.

“People leave parties for different reasons. But what I have observed is that defections are not based on the interest of the people but on personal gains, what I call ‘stomach infrastructure.

“If you are a politician with a conscience, you wouldn’t join the APC given the current economic hardship and the poor performance of the Tinubu administration,” Tambuwal stated.

The PDP Chieftain lambasted the APC-led federal government, accusing it of lacking focus, compassion, and direction.
He called on opposition forces to unite and strategize for the 2027 elections to provide an alternative for Nigerians.

"There is nothing appealing in the APC beyond personal benefits. Those of us who believe in this country and in service to the people must come together to ensure that by 2027, we remove this administration that has failed Nigerians,” he added.
Meanwhile, the PDP Northwest reaffirmed its commitment to reclaiming power in 2027, emphasizing the need for unity and strategic mobilization.

A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and read by the PDP Northwest Chairman, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, underscored the party’s resolve to take its place in national leadership.

The PDP of the Northwest zone should take its rightful position in the nation by providing quality leadership. All internal conflicts at the national level must be resolved swiftly because Nigerians are looking to PDP for leadership,” the communiqué stated.

Despite challenges from the 2023 general elections, the party reaffirmed its strong grassroots support and an increasing national shift toward the PDP, stressing that unity is key to achieving success in 2027.

“We call for unity among party members so that we can solve our problems and ensure victory in 2027. All hands must be on deck to take over leadership in our states and at the national level,” the communiqué added.

The high-profile meeting was attended by key PDP stalwarts, including former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi; former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau; PDP governorship candidate for Jigawa, Mustapha Sule Lamido; Senator Lado Dan Marke; Hon. Isa Ashiru Kudan; Hon. Ango Abdullahi; and the PDP National Youth Leader, among others.

Under Tambuwal, Sokoto became the poorest state in Nigeria with the highest numbers of people living in multidimensional poverty. Sokoto under him also had the highest percentage of out of school children in Nigeria.

Tambuwal and Atiku are both personally responsible for the problems that have plagued PDP since the 2022 Presidential primary election of the party. Still, he’s trying to lecture us about good governance. Good governance to this idiot simply means a forceful return of the country to Fulani rule and nothing else.

They are mostly featherweight money-hungry politicians who have been away from the purse for so long. Tinubu was grossly unpopular in 2023 and now, even more so (since he's been tested and found lacking). He won with the least margin ever in Nigeria's political history. Despite all these, the numbers still show that the core North delivered Tinubu through the margins he got, at the time when even most Yorubas were too timid to openly support his campaign for fear of obidients.

Tinubu does not even have the entire Southern base in his grip and could only salvage 4 out of 6 states in the Southwest, 1 state out of 6 in the Southsouth (Rivers state under questionable circumstances) and zero state in the Southeast. It wasn’t the Northern minorities that made Tinubu president (they mostly voted Obi in protest of muslim-muslim ticket). It was the Northern majority (despite splitting their votes 3 ways between Tinubu, a very formidable Northern Atiku and to a lesser extent, Kwankwaso who still got over a million votes). Numbers don't lie.

Tinubu would have been better off consolidating on his Northern base, not thinking he could replace the Northern majority with the minorities. To totally get the votes of Northern minorities, Tinubu will have to change his muslim-muslim ticket (suicide) or get CAN and all the pastors to endorse his muslim-muslim ticket (a set trap), all while improving on the economy.

Let me use this opportunity and tell the NORTHERNERS that any gang up they are plotting against Tinubu that does not have PETER OBI as the party flag bearer will ultimately fail.

I do rather Tinubu continues to destroy the country than have another Fulani man in power. How wicked can you people be. You had Buhari and you wanted to have Atiku. Now El Rufai is also eyeing the pot of stew.

100% correct talk. To be honest, there is no way any Nigerian can avoid what is shaping out to be a fight between forces of darkness, who are responsible for the deplorable situation most Nigerians find themselves in today, and the few who really want the best for Nigerians and Nigeria.

Tinubu's Presidency has exposed this important concept and struggle as no other previous Presidency has. This is because PBAT has done exactly as Frank Kokori surmised. I.e he has moved against the traditional and evil oligarchy that has always prevented Nigeria developing according to her true human and material/geographical resources endowment.

It is left to progressive Nigerians to support and fight for the Presidency of Tinubu or let proven failures, rapacious opportunists and political jobbers (like Tambuwal, Peter Obi, Atiku, Ndume, Bala Mohammed etal) carry the day in 2027 to return us to Egypt.

Hopefully, Nigerians will be smart and ambitious enough to reject the evil fruits of those who want to depose Tinubu so they can return us to Egypt slavery.

The type of Egyptian hell where Northern leaders, the most vociferous against Tinubu today, have only been able to deliver that places their own people as some of humanity's most deprived individuals with the poorest human development index known to man.

Are these the people, I.e Tambuwal and co, to back against Tinubu who is the doyen of African politics because of what he made of Lagos?
