Celepope:Yes. Such type of design is timeless. It shows class than all those bamubamu, anyhow-shapes and corners POP they are doing that would fade away under two years. To know likely materials you would need, discuss with your installer. Also, measure the area of the place you want to do it either in feet or in meter. You can divide the feet area by 4, to know exact boards you would likely need (without accounting for wastage), since you would be buying 4x8 boards. You can check jiji to have an idea of how much does a board of 4x8 cost since you already know how many units of it you would need. Build in like 5 to 10 percent of waste into what you are buying. Check prices for hardwoods of 2x2, garvanized nails or screws, fiberglass mesh, board thin set/putty (buy industrial one to avoid joint cracking), recessed electrical switches of your choice. and those lights, brackets, fishbones to hold the screw. Those electrical lights would determine the dimension of spaces he would have to leave, after you have agreed on your preferred design/drawing. Please let him sign off on that design o. Let him do the screwing at 12 inch spacing at outside edges and 6 inch spacing inside edges. Consider adding crown molding/cornice to it. It would make it to come out very well and conceal any imperfections at the edges of your walls because most of our walls in Nigeria are not usually straight and 90 deàd square. After sanding it, let them give it 2 coats of primer before giving it final coat/finish of your choice. Consider how dusty your area is, before choosing a color of your final coat. All I stated are just for guide. You installer will give you detailed list materials needed. Don’t let him ścam you o. Check the reasonableness of the quantities of materials he would say you would need. Measure and count spaces where those materials will occupy. Go online and check material prices. There’s nothing serious there that you can’t buy yourself. Request to see past works he has done and his tools of work before you give him the job. That job needs a good 360 degrees laser line. Or he can use chalk lines, if he doesn’t have laser line. Otherwise, he could mess up the work. Also be there when he is working mostly or be checking him out unannounced. Dry ceiling is easier to do than normal POP. it is faster to complete, as well. It doesn’t fall off, the way POPs do. You can use your roof nogging for part of the profile you want, instead of buying a whole sets of hardwoods. It is also flexible, as it is easier to repair where it is compulsory to unscrew any areas of it and work inside your ceiling. |

Pls my geepee tank is leaking, I called a plumber to fix it few weeks, I am not sure what he used in sealing it but it was fine until a few days ago, the leakage now is even more than before, There is a possibility it might be leaking from more than one spot, Is there anyone here that can come help me with this?, I am in Lagos, around Baruwa, ipaja rd, thanks for all your help and answers in advance 🙏 |

Kaybthaniels:Pls let me ask you these two questions - is it leaking directly from the tank ? - Have you checked the tank backnut whether it it well screwed and firm? Can you do these two exercise on the tank and revert back with your observations? |

Tendency of cement screeding after some years. I understand some still like it but it's my duty to enlighten clients on the possibility especially if necessary additional binder wasn't sufficiently added and what step to take just to be on a safer side. Anyone meticulous about appearance would have to rescreed and repaint. I was just discussing with a nairalander and he said the satin used in his previous build shows the wall when stain is cleaned with cloth and water. I told him I was going to post that on nairaland to enlighten those that may not be aware and think that is normal that satin should wash off with cleaning. Regal paint matte emulsion doesn't even wash off with cleaning. Be sure of what you are getting especially if coat is unreasonably low compared to any good similar products.

A million thanks to you Gbadexy for the constant enlightenment on the topic of wall finishing. The binder you mentioned, is it what screeders call screeding gum? Secondly, what mixing ratio would you recommend of the various constituents of screeding, assuming a 100sqm internal wall using POP cement? gbadexy: |

Beframia:They use P.V.A like topbond etc. Those are the categories of binders available in the market for them. Not the best industrial binder though. I am not a screeder and I can't determine the quantity to the material ratio needed. There are formulations per kg or volume as the case may be and ratio of different materials in proper ratio for paints. The materials pop screeders use, the type of binders or their mixing ratio is not what I'm familiar with or can give advice on. |

| Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by topsy23(m): 9:31pm On Feb 16, 2025 |
floshady02:Seen ma, just few observations. Your plumber quoted Copper pipe for hot line. Better to use PPR pipes for both hot and cold line. I will go through the sent drawings and generate the quantities. |

Dijita: darc:I believe it is sand. It is around Dangote area. I don't think the soil type will be necessarily be relevant as the foundation of the fence had been done with one or two blocks on top |

chyima:A storey building is just a floor. If I were to depict what you meant then it is probably a 2 floor building, 2 flats on the ground floor and 2 on the upper floor. If I am right, that foundation is not right to be used, not at all. |

VanuatuWycombe:The bolded is a topic, we've dealt with on this platform on several occasion! Yes the gypsum board is easy & clean installation, But it's never better than POP ✓ |
| Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by hamtabfawaz(m): 1:15pm On Feb 17, 2025 |
Beframia:For the bolded... 5Kg of bond per drum of 20litres of screeding paint With a mixture of 1kg of water proofing solution. |

hamtabfawaz:In my opinion, it is better. Most of materials used for PoP are either fake or substandard. Many installers too cut corners and they don’t know what they are doing. PoP in my house came down completely one day before I got home that year in 2014. They are not properly hanged, even if they are nailed to a concrete ceiling. They will still come down, with time. I am 100% certain that gypsum board can outlive PoP. I am not out to spoil market for any PoP installer here or elsewhere o. I am stating known facts. They are heavier than boards and that’s why it is not safe to be underneath them and feel relaxed. They are like timed-bomb. Another way to reduce their risk of falling down is to use a higher percentage of boards for the profiling than than normal PoP cement materials. |

VanuatuWycombe:I am just curious with the way you're saying it.... When you say the POP just came down in your house, do you mean the entire POP installed in your home in all the areas and sections came down all in one full swoop? Moreso, can you still remember the name of the POP you bought because there are different brand names depending on ones pocket? You're not in anyway remarketing POP installers because apart from installation and design, the production of POP, sponge and otters is not manufactured by them. Installers are just users. Now, given that the POP fell down, what was it's final replacement? |
