lol I get you. But I did, I left abuja couple of minutes past 6am, got to Otukpo by 10am and got to enugu (nsukka) by 12pm, that's 6 hours, I only averaged 150kmph. Even with the transmission temp high message I got on the way which usually made me to slow down below 120kmph, I still go there on time. We later found out that the transmission issue was due to the upgraded front bumper which had no breathing space for the transmission cooler radiator, I have forced open a breathing space in the front bumper now

I hope that opening didn't cause deface of the front number. You should gave use separate cooler fan attach to transmission cooler.

No it didn't deface it (it did a little ), actually, they made provision for it. We tested it by stressing the transmission for about an hour but it didn't come up. I haven't thought about using fans, it could be an overkill though

Use fan to extract heat at low speed or during go slow driving. What you did will only be efficient during high speed in which movement air aid air flow to extract heat, but that is not the case during low speed conditions. Did you ever ask why radiator fan was added to engine cooling system.

Thank you! I will keep this in mind, and hopefully the issue doesn't come up again, but if it does, I think I will try this fan thing

Don't do this fan thing pls, kindly leave your vehicle factory spec and no additional electrical modifications

Attaining your speed a lil gradually by easing up on your throttle and maintaining a lower rpm will take care of it. Na your high rev dey stress the transmission

The thing is, during low speed driving, the message work come up, his transmission is not stressed, what's stressed is the engine

On the highway too, if he kept his rpm below 2500 on average, he's likely not to get the message either

Reading he did average of 150kmph tells you why he got the message, he's definitely operating on 3000rpm - 4500rpm above for long stretches

I still believe that my driving wasn't the cause of the issue cause I moved in convoy with a 2013 highlander v6 and a prado v6. None of them experienced the issue, not even once. I was even the one that struggled to keep up I don't believe the RX is not that strong compared to a 2013 highlander and a 2015 prado

You miss the point, the fault is there no doubt....all I'm saying is, it's better you slow down your rev as a means of managing it, than installing an extra fan

Ha, reduce the speed o. It's too too fast. For most normal passenger cars, Abuja to enugu thru the Ajaokuta route is 9-10hours (6am - 4pm time) due to the bad roads.

No need to import the oil as the original stuff is in Lagos. I can confirm this because they import directly from the US and you can check them out. And yes, there’s a way to verify fake oil and it’s very simple. Same for the filter and other liquids including coolant, trans and brake fluids.
As for the oil change interval, 3 months is ridiculous for an adnvaced full synthetic with Base3 oil like Mobil1, Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline etc especially with an extended performance oil filter. You can do 5k miles or 6months whichever comes first. I’m also in love with my cars and do my oil change myself. Congrats on your sweet ride, and please toss in an injector cleaner like Techron at every oil change to keep things running smoothly.

It has been good so far, I have no complaints. Since I came back to abj, my movements have been minimal, so no stressing the car at all, just school runs and going to the office occasionally. Average weekly mileage now stands at about 200 miles. The car is due for servicing this month sha

Nice, but you like shared earlier you can service at 5000 miles or every six months instead of 3 months. Which oil are you using?

what you said is true, but that is if I am sure that the oil I used was the original. I used Mobil 1 0w20 fuel economy which I purchased the 5 liters for over 80k. I want to switch to Pennzoil because I feel it will have less adulterated units but @kingreign is saying that we can get guaranteed original Shell Helix 0w-20, that it is equally as good. I might just give it a try in my next servicing
