Everybody has a thorn (1) Tue, 18 Feb 2025 ‘A thorn in the flesh was given to me,’ 2 Corinthians 12:7 Paul writes: ‘… a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me … For when I am weak, then I am strong’ (2 Corinthians 12:7-10 NKJV). Paul had such great faith that when he prayed, the sick were healed and the dead were raised. Yet, he prayed repeatedly that God would remove his ‘thorn in the flesh’, and God said no. Why? To keep him humble and make him totally dependent on God. We don’t know what Paul’s thorn in the flesh was, but we know why he had it: ‘And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, …’ (2 Corinthians 12:7 NKJV). When God blesses you greatly, with it comes the risk of pride. And with God, that’s a disqualifier. If you have ever had a splinter in your finger, you know it throbs with pain and constantly irritates you. Can you live with it? Yes. Would you rather not? Yes. Note what Paul says: ‘A thorn in the flesh was given to me.’ Not only does he come to see his thorn as a grace developer, but a gift that does two things: 1) Humbles us and makes us more dependent on God. 2) Makes us more tolerant and gracious since everybody has a thorn. |

Odin13:Ok so........so these temptations are not challenges for a Christian? If yes, what are the challenges of life that God orchestrate for his children to serve his purpose? |
| Re: Everybody Has A Thorn (1) by Odin13: 1:53pm On Feb 18, 2025 |
Truthseeker10:Life. Is a challenge.. life itself and existence is that .. That you know you can’t do anything on your own.. without God. Reason why all humans pray.. and seek God in whatever dialect , tradition or religion. However .. many are seeking him intently but on a wrong route Reason Jesus said .. I am the truth and life .. no one cometh to the father except through him. Jesus Christ is the only route to God . Thank you |

Odin13:These are your words below: "Some challenges are personal orchestrate by God for his purpose .." What are these challenges that are orchestrated by God for his purpose? Are temptations that a Christian face not challenges? Who orchestrates them? |
| Re: Everybody Has A Thorn (1) by Odin13: 2:24pm On Feb 18, 2025 |
Truthseeker10:Again . Temptations are not challenges.. Challenges of life or problems or issues .. or difficulties are part of life and life can’t be possible without it .. reason why we face different challenges as human Now those challenges are orchestrate by God himself .. as corrections, reprove , a he deemed fit in his wisdom .. to his purpose . There’s none in particular .. When Jesus wanted to heal a blind man.. people ask him .. is it sin that made the man blind or is it unbelief ? He said none .. but that the name of God be glorified There’s no direct condition attached to God .. more reason wisdom is profitable to seek the face of God . When going through a challenge or a difficult time .. In all there’s always a lesson to learn.. for the wise Thank you |

Odin13:So from your write up above, Jesus said that God orchestrate people to be blind for his glory? If yes, is all the suffering in the world today not an orchestration from God? |

Truthseeker10:When isreal left God to worship Baal…. God dealt with them .. till the repent and came back to God.. and he prospered them and yet still dealt with the same people he used to punish isreal Then at a time.. He gave mankind salvation through Jesus Christ.. his son That whosoever believe .. will not die but have everlasting life .. Today Jesus Christ is the key.. Believe and faith in him.. I don’t know your intent of asking all this funny questions.. However if you’re not a Christian . Will advice you give your life to Christ now . Yea even as now Ask God to takeover your life and sanctify you. As you surrender all to him and make him owner of your life . Is a personal prayer and decision Only thern will all this start getting clearer to you God is not human and you will never understand with human brain and wisdom So no matter how I explain to you.. pride won’t make you to understand.. The way of God is so far different from men. And no one questions him.. but in all to give him glory Seek God first |

Odin13:So in the example of the blind man that Jesus healed, did Jesus say that he committed a sin to be blind? If no, are you telling me that your God makes innocent people to be blind and suffer for his own Glory? Are you saying that the suffering of millions of innocent people on earth is orchestrated by him? |

Odin13:Lies! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 How come even atheists equally experience many of these same so-called personal challenges orchestrated by your particular deity, some of them eventually going on to either overcome or rise above them? 😩😩😩😩 |

Odin13:1. Life is a challenge orchestrated by your deity for both those who believe in and those who don't? So, how come the vast majority of those who are praised even those of your religion as having overcome or risen high in life are atheists? ![]() 2. Lies! Not all humans pray to a deity, particularly your deity. ![]() 3. Talk about being confused! 🤔 |
