A video has surfaced showing the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ifedayo Local Government election, Kayode Atolagbe, firing a dane gun into the atmosphere to the delight of his supporters.

The video was shared on X by Prince Aderemi, a former Media Assistant to the former governor of Osun State and Minister of Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

However, our correspondent could not confirm how recent the video is and whether it was connected to the violence witnessed in Osun State on Monday.

Reports have it that the former chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Mr. Aderemi Abbas, and six others were killed when members of the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed.

The clash erupted after a contentious Court of Appeal ruling allegedly reinstated the APC-elected local government chairmen and councillors.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has vowed to investigate the violence and bring perpetrators to book.
