Patriotic leaders...Sir, how did you raise money as an Army General to create Otta Farms? You forgot Atiku was tapped about SPVs that you also participated in. We also remember how under your regime as Military Head of State, you killed Fela's Mother - a champion of rights of all people, the mother of Nigeria like Fela said. Obj thinks we have short term memories. iwaeda: |

YoungLionken:God bless you anywhere you are.....this is exactly me .. exactly the way I say it .. patriot my foot ..if those men irrespective of tribes Govern Nigeria well from 1960 and not try to live like the white men that left ,with the likes of Okute Eboh, etc ..we will be in a better position. Although I won't want to put late Clark I Obj categories wheb it comes to looters ...Clark atleast contribute to education..I think I studied with one of his books ..I can't remember for now tho ..but atleast he was way better. |

iwaeda:What exactly was patriotic about Clark? Obasanjo and others like him have thoroughly bastardised the meaning of patriotism. Imagine Obasanjo talking about patriotism after his destroying our country repeatedly ![]() citizenisb: |

Omoawoke:I just said it on another Thread that many accounts are being created massively between yesterday and today and most of them are designated for 8 speeches and propaganda. Election is also here and politicians and strategizing to tackle their perceived oppositions through online warriors. Last two weeks alone, over 300 IDs were created on NL within a space of 2 days. The creation wasn’t organic at all. This past Friday, only 1 ID was created till Sunday afternoon. After this, they have created over 100 IDs. See this attachment and watch out how the number grows steadily.

jaxxy:But I am left to wonder why the patriots could not effect positive change during their prime, or probably there were more unpatriotic people than patriotic ones in their time too. |

YoungLionken:Too much respect for elders or even worship of elders may the the single biggest reason for our underdevelopment. No innovation comes from old people. As far as I know There is no civilization with a reverence for elders that is part of the 1st world currently |

Melodydoctor:it's is always easier to destroy than to build. So patriots have more work doing the right thing against the majority who want to do the wrong things or just anything especially in a country where the masses are stupid and tribalistic. |

YoungLionken:One of the best comments I have read on nairaland in a while. It is shocking how most people on this forum leave the real issues and chase shadows. Generally speaking, the so called elders are the generation that should be cursed because a lot of them benefited from the system established by colonial powers and then proceeded through their greed and incompetence to reduce this country to its current state. It will take a miracle at this point for the generation that never saw a working Nigeria to engineer a turn around. Most on this forum are experts in mocking other tribes /ethnic nations and will never think beyond that, no matter the circumstances. There is no hope unless this tribal / ethnic impasse is broken. That said - I think Obasanjo performed reasonably better than most presidents since the current civilian dispensation. Though he could have done better, but he put a couple of reforms on the board but there was no real follow through. Maybe if Yaradua was healthy/ survived or Obasanjo was able to get him an able deputy (I know some folks will be upset but Jonathan was not competent) |

Judolisco:Jonathan of all people to fill the shoes left by Baba Clark, it's impossible task. Jonathan is too timid to occupy that exalted seat. A man that always put truth under his tongue cannot be a leader of regional group, just because he doesn't want to step on toes. |

Which patriotic leaders? Awon agba’ya. Patriotic leaders are in Nigeria and Nigeria is like this? Na so so promise upon promise from our governors and governments. Youths who have the means to run should run o. Otherwise, they would waste your youthful age. You can come back later and establish something when you have secured your future and your bags. |

DMCY:U have a point but that is a general problem everywhere. Ideally the system is supposed to be configured to naturally build up patriots not any individuals making their own patriots so selfish purposes. Now what we have is a dysfunctional system created hawks and vultures.. Corrupt men with no conscience or commitment to nationhood. |

Clark nor be Yoruba
! But something is fundamentally wrong with the typical Blackman and so called respect for elders. While typical Nigerians see elders through age, I for one see elders through impacts,/examples/foot steps..
