Fair point.

But even if I accept your argument, we are still left with several state governors who didn't come to power through controversial supreme court judgements. Those governors did speak (through the Governors Forum) on behalf of their people and their position is clear:

Nigerians are very comfortable with the status quo - despite all their protests to the contrary. Nigerians do not really mind the glaring contradiction of sharia states getting money from activities such as beer sales.

They don't mind - although they claim they do.

Hausas, one of the largest tribes in Nigeria, have zero governor in their own land…😣☹️🙊🙈🙉🖐🏽🎤🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻

This happened because, their parents fell prey for religious bait in 1804 and they soon became second class citizens in their own land

The same trick is still being used today by the Fulanis, typified by the recent surreptitious attempt in trying to import shariah laws through some Yoruba muslims into western Nigeria...
it is up to the Yorubas to accept the bait and fall to the trick again or reject the same and stand as one united family by tribe, which no religion temptation baits can divide !

I guess Katsina State has been declared a full Islamic State.

So while they practice such, they should not allowed to collect revenue from the federation account part of allocation.
They should also ban brothels and hotels that are used for such activities.

Is it for the Muslim people alone who own n operate night clubs or for everyone including Christians cos i dnt understand when they say sharia is for Muslims alone..

Why ban a business that everyone is doing all in the name of one-sided Religion? This country will bleed again some day!

Well...the rest of Nigeria doesn't really mind. Never ever forget that the entire Nigeria Governors Forum fought against some key elements of the tax reform bill (one of the very, very few things BAT seems to have gotten right). Nigeria's governors (to the last man) are strongly in favour of retaining the current arrangement for VAT proceeds distribution - including that dubious, regressive 50% "equality" clause. undecided

Your governor supports the status quo. That is the unfiltered, unvarnished truth.
Nigerian govt is foolish to even allow a religious police operate with their on law. It was the northerners that were crying wolf against the bill

Anyway, trust the educated Bahushes and Fulas up there to still flex the head of their lives one way or the other while the Hisbah hotheads slug it out with the downtrodden.

Yes, governors from Northern Nigeria were initially the most vocal opponents of the bill. Naturally, there was a lot of criticism directed towards those governors in the press, on social media, on this very platform etc. But those who know how Nigeria really works simply smiled and waited for what was to come.

Don't ever lose sight of the point I have made on this thread. Governors from southern Nigeria eventually endorsed the position taken by their northern counterparts on the tax bill - and they all (northern and southern alike) agreed to a joint statement issued by the Nigerian Governors Forum.

Not one governor from southern Nigeria disassociated himself from the joint statement issued by all the governors. Not one. What does that tell you? undecided
