Local Government Election Holds Tomorrow - Governor Adeleke

OSOGBO - 21/02/2025 - Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has affirmed that local government election scheduled for tommorow is holding unfailingly under the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).

The Governor made the assertion this morning while receiving a delegation of civil society coalition who are in the state to monitor the local government elections.

According to the Governor, Osun voters are prepared to exercise their voting rights on Saturday even as he expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation by the electoral body.

“I welcome you all to Osun state. Our people are prepared for elections tommorow. They yearn to have their choices as chairmen and councillors.

“OSSIEC has also done marvelous preparatory job according to reports at my disposal. Several political parties are participating and I believe there will be a level playing ground for all to test their popularity with the masses”, the Governor told the visiting activists.

On controversy over the election, the Governor asserted that democracy is governed by rule of law and that nobody can assume the authority of the courts.

“My advice to all parties including local and national stakeholders is to abide by democratic norms. As for me and my people, we stand by the rule of law, not illega self- help.

“Election is going to hold and the outcome will be a fast tracked development at the local level. I urge our people to remain peaceful. Osun is a truly peaceful state”, Governor Adeleke noted.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
Spokesperson to the State Governor.

There are no vacancies across local government councils in Osun state. A fresh election when the tenure of those previously elected haven’t ended is an undemocratic way to resolve an act of impunity and lawlessness committed by the governor.

Peter Obi went to the same Court of Appeal to reclaim his mandate and he was allowed to fully serve his term of office. The elected local government council officials should be allowed to fully serve their term of office which will expire in October, 2025 as directed by the court. There is no need for any urgent election except those to be elected will assume office in October.

Nurudeen Ademola Jackson should stop the impunity and respect the judgement of the court. When you’re in a hole, you fvcking stop digging. Allocations from FAAC will only be released to the council officials whose election have been validated by the court.

You see the problem, you are comparing grapes and apples.

Peter Obi reclaimed his mandate because the Supreme Court held that the election was not supposed to have held since his tenure wasn't over.
In this case, a Court of Appeal judgement have said that the election that produced these LG Chairmen/Councillors was faulty, invalid, illegal and unconstitutional. So can you place something on nothing?

Saturday’s election is only an academic exercise and a waste of time and money. Those already in office will remain so till October, 2025. They are the only ones who will get allocation directly from FAAC. If Demola Jackson and Davido wants to fund the clowns they intend to announce as winners tomorrow from their pockets till October, so be it.

Nice one,all the parties should go to the field to test their popularity instead of trying through the backdoor

Wahala
This country is a messed up country.
Anybody can just do anyhow and get away with it because even the president himself is a thief, a criminal, a drug dealer and an addict

So everything goes

The Court of Appeal Peter Obi went to is not the same Court of Appeal we have today.

We didn't have Buhari and Tinubu to bastardize our Judiciary back then.

We didn't have Kekere-Ekun, Kayode Ariwoola and Tanko to turn Nigerian Judiciary into a marketplace for politicians.
When a Governor with spine stands up to the impunity of the Federal Government, that is when you sycophants remember rule of law and justice.

Under PDP, elections in Edo, Ondo, and other states were overturned in favour of the APC by the courts.

Despite the high degree of electoral corruption we witness since APC, elections have been affirmed in favour of the APC by the corrupt APC controlled Judiciary.

Governor Adeleke should go ahead and conduct a decent election for the people of Osun State to replace the rubbish Oyetola did to sabotage his government.

This is a copy of the ballot paper Oyetola used to conduct LG elections during his time.

Ask yourself if this was an election or selection if you have any conscience.

In short, you will cause chaos in Osun State tomorrow and guess what? Your term will be cut short with State Of Emergency.

Education is never a scam. If you can remove elected local government chairman, then the president has all right to remove you by anyway necessary. If one of these governors is not use as an example, others won’t learn.

State of emergency loading in OSUN……………

Lol. Olodo. The court invalidated the High Court judgement that was the basis for sacking them. There is no need for any reinstatement order as that would be simply academic. The judgement is clear as daylight.

Like Fagbemi did to Fubara nah?
Leave Davido, he is not the Governor of Osun State.

Despite the CTCs I showed you, you weren't convinced or you didn't see any need to. Fagbemi was Oyetola's counsel in 2022 and was advising, advice no be curse, Ademola has listened to his personal ADVICE.

What about the APP suit?

If you have allowed elections into these offices immediately you came in, you would have avoided this catastrophic now.

Many of you politicians always taking decisions that would beneficial to you alone while in office even at detriment of the nation building.

You are wailing and lamenting now, becos of disadvantages the scenario would poise on your election comming this year.

You will learn in hard way.
