This is why we need state police in Nigeria. The state government doesn't have to get the courts to order the police to do their constitutional duties of providing peace and security during any event or exercise in each state. |

I pity the low-class political jobbers that will die a useless death in the power tussle between Adeleke and Oyetola. For all I know, both Adeleke and Oyetola are trying to secure their second term by having their loyalists at the local government level. Maybe presidency needs to intervene with a clear directory to avoid bloodsheds. |

Adeleke will run APC street in this election. Electoral Act didn't specify the maximum amount of time to conduct an election to replace elected individuals. So even if APC chairmen continues till October, the PDP chairmen that will be elected tomorrow, will replace them by October. So APC minister of Justice and Attorney General of Federation recommendations is useless, idiotic and mediocre. PDP will clear the local council election tomorrow. |

May God bless Nigerians who support Morals & Common sense. My suggestion is: Once a serving Governor loses an election, he should not be allowed to hurriedly conduct Local Government Election or suddenly employ thousands of people into the State's civil service before leaving office. They just want to plant their boys so they can destabilize the incoming Governor. It's wickedness, barbaric & morally wrong. Oyetola is one of the non-performing Minister in this Administration, Tinubu should call him to order |

Osun LG crisis: Matawalle urges security agencies to maintain order By: Kingsley Omonobi Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed his concern on the recent incidents in the local government councils in Osun State. A statement from his office said, ”In the light of this development, he has called upon security agencies to take proactive measures to maintain law and order in the state.” Matawalle emphasised that the court ruling is not only a reflection of the judiciary’s independence but also aligns seamlessly with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice, equity and the rule of law across the nation. He highlighted that the recent incident in Osun State in which some lives were lost should not be allowed to continue. “As a minister of state for defence, my duty also includes protection of lives and properties of all citizens. “This affirmation stands as a testament to the administration’s dedication to ensuring that democratic principles are respected and upheld at all levels of governance,” he stated. Matawalle urged all stakeholders, political leaders, community members and civil society organisations to respect the rule of law and engage in constructive dialogue. He stressed the importance of collaboration in fostering a peaceful and conducive environment in Osun State which is vital for the progress and development of the region. Furthermore, he called on the citizens of Osun State to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions, assuring them that the federal government is committed to ensuring their safety as security has been elevated. He reiterated that maintaining peace is paramount and that the government will support all efforts aimed at achieving stability and harmony within the state. Matawalle added by reaffirming the administration’s resolve to protect the democratic rights of all citizens and to work tirelessly towards a peaceful Nigeria where justice prevails and the rule of law is upheld. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/02/osun-lg-crisis-matawalle-urges-security-agencies-to-maintain-order/amp/ |

Sigh... This country sha. See how these leaders take Elections far more seriously than leadership. The number of Police, Soldiers and Secret Servive deployed for mere local government elections can eradicate Insurgency in less than 3 days. We always make the excuse that our security is stretched and highly understaffed when it comes to security of lives and properties of average Nigerians... Yet, they are always sufficient and better armed than U.S Seals when it comes to Elections and escorting the elite 2% of the population. |
