This is complete a biased and unrealistic report.

I have not been to the North that much, however, from my experience, this is my order. You can add yours:

1. Edo State
2. Delta State
3. Imo State
4. Cross Rivers
5.
6.
7.
Your list shows you are truly well travelled! Kudos.

I will never understand why Delta and Imo are more expensive to live in compared to Lagos and Rivers.

Even Ogun state has far more industrial and revenue generating capacity than Imo, Ebonyi and Delta combined.

grin Nice attempt at manipulating figures again to confuse yourselves and sell a narrative that 4 south east states are expensive to live in. But in reality, you guys are wrong in the above statistics.

In the end, we will all wander into the forest of comparing who is worse hit while hunger continues to reset the brains of all Nigerians wherever they are. Some may be feeling happier to think that their state is less expensive, but the reality on the ground is that hunger is still tormenting every Nigerian, no matter their location.

The federal government has failed as we all knew they will fail.
Tinubu govt is a failure

There is absolutely no justification for the top 3 being on that list...!

The cost of living in Imo and Ebonyi have absolutely no correlation with the commercial and industrial activities there.

That means such states will have a high occupation and prevalence of crimes.
Ebonyi is very expensive to live in, the state capital Abakaliki mainly.

But surprisingly there's no insecurity in Abakaliki. People still keep up with it.

Food and drugs are cheap in Abakaliki.

You will cry about TRANSPORTATION AND RENT in Abakaliki. Just cost of transportation and cost of rent ONLY.

Cost of Transporting yourself in Abakaliki for a day is higher than travelling from Owerri to Port Harcourt inter-state.

Yet the Abakaliki is small and not wide.

I could understand why rent is expensive in places like Lagos and PH, the likes of Imo and Enugu is something I find difficult to understand. If you dont have up to 1 million don't even think of renting a decent 3 bedroom anywhere inside Enugu city
Inside lagos people paying 1.3million naira are bathing and cooking with pure water. The 500k I said is not even inside lagos, na outskirts of lagos.. however 1m in enugu and imo is big sha. I would expect it to be around 500k to 700k for something really decent

You are just clueless, you wouldn’t even survive in Lagos, lifestyle in Lagos is so expensive, Lagos is Infact one of the most expensive city to live in the world, only house rent indeed for the fact that the house rent is expensive tells you that the city is expensive, use your head, have you been to restaurants, lounge in Lagos?
mrvitalis:
Lagos is super cheap compared to IMO... Trust me Lagos is very very affordable

Rent is relatively cheap outside the island
Transportation is cheap
Food is way cheaper in Lagos

Imo is very true, the people of imo have this mentality of exploiting their people with any rubbish they sell, these people are wicked!! That's why they are not complaining abt how their governor is treating them, wickedness is in their blood. Travelling from imo to Anambra, from akokwa to uga to ekwulobia markets I was seeing fresh vegetables, big red tomatoes, fresh fruits, like everything in the market so clean and fresh, I was already thinking there's drought abi famine in Nigeria o, it was in Anambra I realised that there's actually food in Nigeria, see local delicacies at affordable prices, everything so neat and fresh, plus good roads and a whole lot of projects and development going on there, soludo is trying, plus supportive people, Anambra amaka abeg

In terms of costs of transportation, rent, and foodstuff.

Re: Top 10 Most Expensive States To Live In Nigeria In January 2025 by NaijaCrusader: 3:15pm On Feb 21, 2025
Since this administration came to power or rather since APC came to power everywhere in Nigeria is expensive and I haven't been to all areas across Nigeria but I can honestly tell you that OP is very likely correct especially at the cost of living in Imo State and by such we know he means Owerri the capital. Houses in the Island where I live is expensive no doubt but at least it is the Island and most places in the Island have good road networks but houses in Owerri where the roads are very bad and are water logged during the raining season is as expensive as the ones in the Island. Is it the cost of food? In most areas in Lagos especially the mainland a place of rice starts from #300 naira in Owerri it starts from #1k then transportation is another thing in that state. I don't know why maybe because of the hyping or too much Yahoo boys or because it is generally a cool place to live in Nigeria but Owerri is very expensive

Imo state (Owerri) populace are mostly civil servants, students. The only company you that's situated there when i was there is just Rapido Food LTD in Owerri and Consolidatary PLC in Awo. There's almost zero presence of industry there and i think it's the reason for it being expensive and night life sells in Owerri and believe me Imo state is very expensive.

Rivers state (Porrthacourt), deserves to be in that list (nobody go tell you how expensive dat city dey if you spend one month there).

Enugu is quite expensive especially its metropolis but food stuffs are cheaper around the local government that shares boundary with Benue state and I don't think Ebonyi should be in the top ten in most expensive states in Nigeria.

Edo (Benin city) is very expensive but if you live in northern Edo (Auchi) things are quiet cheaper there.

What I don't understand about this list is, why is Delta state (Asaba) not there. Asaba is one of if not the most expensive city in Nigeria.

For me, I think Oyo state (Ibadan) is the cheapest in southern Nigeria.

Food, rent, transportation is my yard stick.
But i wonder how some people are saying Lagos is cheap to live in.
Re: Top 10 Most Expensive States To Live In Nigeria In January 2025 by jimi4us: 3:21pm On Feb 21, 2025
Whoever compiled this list is mad, here I am roaming around Abuja looking for a house of ₦5m that makes sense and I can't find something reasonable

In IMO state I could rent a duplex with 1.5m in a nice area.

cross River is not expensive. The only issue in calabar and not cross River as a whole is recent rise in accommodation but its not still compared to the likes of Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Yes, you are right... But, there is still no justification for such high costs of rent and housing.

If the earning potential of the average citizens there is low, who is paying the high rents?!!

Who is influencing the consistent hike in rents?!!

We both know the answer to this...

Imo
Delta
Ebonyi
Edo

All on this table!
