First we thank God for keeping IBB alive to actually reveal the real truth not just the about the coup but the annulment of the election which Lt Abiola won That said...so we have 1 Igbo personnel involved in this coup plot...ok let add Nzeogwu for good measure so that brainless people won't look for something foolish to argue with By my calculations we had 2 Igbos, 4 Yorubas and host of others from various other ethnicities It's clear it wasn't an Igbo Coup because one of the reasons the northerners believed it was so according to one retired general who was scrutinized about a book he wrote about the coup he said was because historically coup plots are always conspired and supported by a majority of a particular tribe. But his reasoning was shut down during the hearing because by calculation a majority were Yorubas not Igbos Secondly why were other subsequent coups carried out by Northern military men not tagged Fulani/hausa coup...he couldn't respond but only said that those ones were based on the person that carried out . for example Buhari coup instead of calling it Fulani coup The evil narrative goes deeper So now let's just know that 1) It wasn't an Igbo Coup based on numbers 2) Ojokwu and another Igbo general were mentioned to be involved to have crushed or resisted the coup...(the yoruba propaganda news media didn't cover that) 3) the intention of the coup was to put Awolowo in power Ok another argument they will bring up is why were few Igbo elites spared during the failed coup attempt Now there are accounts to this..even IBB mentioned of an Igbo general killed by his own brother right in front of his pregnant wife during that bloody coup. Anyway why they couldn't kill Igbo elites was their problem and I won't come defend that But then I wonder why I share a country with some people from these two ethnic groups that have gutter reasoning Here is the clarification Ok they failed to kill a few Igbo elites...while they killed SW & Northern elites (elites means few people) What then happened as your response Northerners carried out a progrom in killing thousands of Igbos in the North That bloodshed wasn't enough ...you killed extra 3 million Igbos because of a coup that took probably 40+ lives ..a coup that wasn't an Igbo Coup to start with And we think that the blood shed of those innocent 3 million igbos won't have a counter negative effect on this abomination called Nigeria 3 million plus thousands that were killed up north was what satisfied the grievance of Northerners over a few elites of theirs that died Mind Tafawa belewa was before his death was killing a lot of people in the middle eastern region Ok I ask...why wasn't a thousand if not millions of Yorubas also killed ? Since we had a staggering four coup plotters involved ? My Igbo brothers & sisters we are vindicated but will these wounds heal I doubt This truth is but a stepping stone to keep our head held up high..we are not slaves neither the guilty but victims to elite power struggle, disinformation and fear of our talent echoed by Tafawa belewa Only time will tell...today when we look across at the North those who boxed us in ..waged war on us...the Igbos who were set back by war has come out much better & thrived in education, finance, tech, etc while those in the North breed illiteracy, poverty & banditry We know how sad it went for Awolowo & others God is with what..no matter how they try to shut us down we will keep excelling. I hope to the reasonable SW & Northern people that they see the light..but then again as Igbos we don't care what you think but let the truth be set straight so that we know who is guilty & innocent Igbo billionaires try invest in news media British & Yorubas media did Igbos dirty. If not for wetin dey do trump I no for understand how propaganda can be so evil |

Captain O. Oji was assigned the task of killing Aguiyi Ironsi but Aguiyi Ironsi was at an official function that involved foreign dignitaries that lasted into the night. Before the event finished, he had gotten wind about what was going on and escaped. I heard the story that Zik was outside the country on medical vacation. If the coup was about killing Nigeria leaders, how come Awolowo was spared. He was the most vulnerable Because he was in jail in calabar |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 1:02am On Feb 22, 2025 |
kettykin:The coup was to release him and put him in power that's why |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:06am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Lol 😂. IBB is not called an EVIL GENIUS or MARADONA for no reason. So you also believe Abacha annulled the June 12 election without the knowledge of IBB?! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:06am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Inteltower:The question is why? |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:09am On Feb 22, 2025 |
kettykin:He was already is captivity hence no fuss. But why was Akintola killed. Would he have been killed too if he was already in prison?! kettykin so why were the leaders that were killed, killed why not just imprison them?! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by dettolgel: 1:25am On Feb 22, 2025 |
This will not grace the front page. Imagine the chaos if he had said otherwise. Yoruba people are most tribal people I have seen. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 1:26am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:Oga I rather believe the person in the game and that has seen it all and that have exposed the lies & hypocrisy of his kinsmen than listen to you child that is trying to spin the narrative Millions were killed over a grievance of not killing a few Does that make any sense to you ? & FYI the Yorubas fanned the flames of the bloodshed of these millions to deflect their own involvement I won't defend why they weren't successful in killing Igbo elites But shouldn't the knowledge of a few Igbo military general that crushed & resisted the same coup also messaged to pacify the tension rising from the North But noooo Yoruba news media escalated it |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by MadPolitician: 1:27am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:Akintola was a menace . The problem with you guys is that you lot from the south west are tone deaf. You only listen to your uncles. Read the accounts of the events as was written by some of the Coup plotters and they will tell you how Nzeogwu hated Akintola for always flying into Kaduna at nights to meet and plan with the Sarduana. That was while the south west was boiling. Nzeogwu got to know about their itinerary because he was in charge of military intelligence at Kaduna. Awolowo was imprisoned because of Akintola . Operation wetie that gulped many lives in the southwest, was caused by this same man, who has now become a yoruba hero just so some people can justify a nasty narrative about igbos plotting an ethnic coup. When the soldiers arrived to pick him up on January 15, the scallywag started shooting at the soldiers. He put in a hell of work to earn those bullets |

Inteltower:June 12 is just a few decades do you also believe IBB had no hand in the annulment of June 12 that Abacha was responsible?! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:30am On Feb 22, 2025 |
MadPolitician:Let us here what you have to say about Sadauna and Tafawa Balewa?! What is the justification for killing them?! MadPolitician |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by survivor10(m): 1:32am On Feb 22, 2025 |
And millions of Igbos killed in Cold blood, on account of "igbo coup", and as of today, Igbos are still being witchhunted in Nigeria! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 1:34am On Feb 22, 2025 |
MadPolitician:You don't force some children of betrayers to accept that they were wrong & that all this was elite power struggle Because before this coup there was clear corruption in govt and killings even ethnic cleansing in the middle belt by Tafa belewa & his gang But noo...they just want to look for an excuse of killing 3 million Igbos |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:34am On Feb 22, 2025 |
survivor10:You read how IBB himself did put it. Nzeogwu was seen more of a 'HAUSA' but yet killed Sadauna and Ahmadu Bello and you expect such betrayal not to face such consequences?! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 1:37am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:Typical...so having done a counter coup that killed many Igbo generals Your stuupidity doesn't want to acknowledge that an equal measure was carried out as justice even they killed the Igbo general that helped crushed the first coup I have given you reason as to why Tafawa belewa was killed... research on the atrocities of this man towards the middle belt ethnic groups olodo |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:38am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Inteltower:Why was the counter coup focused on Igbo Generals if it wasn't an Igbo coup? |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 1:40am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:Like I said gutter reasoning U still don't want to answer my question you daft man Does this coup justify killing millions of Igbos ? There was counter coup that killed Igbos Then followed a general progom killing Igbos in the north Then 3 million Igbos in the east Like I said I know how daft you are and looking for argument but thanks for the engagement in my post at least it will boost more viewers to see the light & not foolish arguments |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 1:42am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Inteltower:Oh you are talking about the civil war?! You mean only Igbos died during the war?! |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Felimax(m): 2:52am On Feb 22, 2025 |
"Anyway why they couldn't kill Igbo elites was their problem and I won't come defend that" Just imagine the double standards! It was an Igbo coup QED! Aguinyi did more damage to Nigeria than any other military ruler ever did. From federative system to presidential with a lot of useless executive order. He changed the trajectory of this country and that is why till date the Igbos remain almost unforgiven. Ojukwu came and took this country to another civil war. You cannot change the narrative no matter how much you try. We know the stories, we know our history. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Thiefobi1: 2:58am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Ibo people and lies. They claimed other tribe participated in the coup ok let agree with their lies for once. How come only Ibo officers killed tafawa balewa, ahmadu bello, mimilari, okotie eboh, ademulegun, pam, akintola, and co. I also believe awolowo would have been murdered if not that he was imprisoned. And left aguiyi Ironsi, nnamdi azikwe, okpara, ojukwu, and other ibo leaders alive. How many people were killed by the non-igbo officers who they falsely claimed participated in the coup |

Thiefobi1:You are right, IBB is an Igbo man 🤣, I won’t waste my time with a Didirin like you, spit |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Thiefobi1: 3:05am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Wahabfuture:How many people were killed by the non-igbo officers, ode. ![]() 1966 is an Igbo people coup against Nigeria. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Nobody: 6:31am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Felimax:Are you just realising these ones are compulsive liars? The drowning dog looking for every strand to pull along, ode says its a majorly yoruba coup meant to install awolowo, what a silly joke ![]() |

Softmirror:But believed him say that Abiola won the elections? |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Mbanda(m): 8:36am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:But you believed IBB when he said that, abiola won the election? Secondly, why didn't the coupists kpai awolowo who was the most vulnerable that time, because he was already in prison in Calabar for treasonable charges? Answer these questions and don't runaway ![]() |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 8:44am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Mbanda:To your first question. IBB never ever disputed that Abiola didn't win. His winning was never in contention. The annulment is the matter of his regret but why is he regretting since he said Abacha was responsible for the annulment To your second question, IBB himself said if Awolowo wasn't in prison he would have been killed too. | Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 8:46am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Felimax:Pls olodo... what I meant was that I have no excuse why the coup failed with some Igbo elites and if the counter coup were Igbo generals were killed wasn't enough to satisfy your blood lust & false propaganda Then you are daft you serial betrayers |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Inteltower(op): 8:47am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:Olodo were did the civil war predominantly take place And why weren't thousands of Yorubas killed since Yorubas were involved in that coup Since you can't answer stfu |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 8:50am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Inteltower:May because the Yorubas were more Igbo than Yoruba just like IBB has said about the chief Coupist lol. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by stanluiz(m): 10:02am On Feb 22, 2025 |
MadPolitician:Operation wetie wetie in the South West leads to the 1966 January coup. But Yoruba media twists it be saying that igbo want to dominate the country why it was two Igbo men, Ironsi and Ojukwu that stops the coup and arrested Nzeogwu. Akintola that was responsible for death, looting, arson, election malpractice and also responsible for Awolowo incarceration in prison turn to be their hero overnight. Every lie and propaganda have an expired date. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by kettykin: 10:08am On Feb 22, 2025 |
Softmirror:The counter-coup was driven by revenge, fueled by the false narrative and belief by a highly unprofessional and ineffective Nigerian media that the initial coup was an Igbo conspiracy. A similar pattern emerged during the #EndSARS protests, where Igbos were once again scapegoated and accused of attempting to burn down Lagos—despite the fact that the protest itself was sparked by grievances shared across ethnic lines. |
| Re: The Alleged Igbo Coup by Softmirror: 10:16am On Feb 22, 2025 |
kettykin:Bring the #EndSARS into light here can only be an emphasis to Lagos with respect to Tinubu and how Igbos directed their anger towards him as they still do today. |
