The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, has raised concerns over the sealing of the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo.

Speaking on a live current affairs program on Rave FM on Saturday, Abioye expressed surprise at the development. Despite the action, he confirmed that the local government election had commenced across polling units in the state.

He also lamented the absence of police officers at polling stations, stating, “Election has started earnestly in all polling units across the state, but from the information available to me, there is no noticeable police presence.”

Abioye further remarked that he had left the matter in the hands of God, following the police's actions.

Earlier, the Nigeria Police had advised the state government against proceeding with the election, citing security concerns and legal implications. However, observations from DAILY POST indicated that many polling units along Gbongan-Ibadan Road and Ogo-Oluwa in Osogbo were deserted, with no electoral officers present, although voters were seen waiting.

Meanwhile, police operatives were observed on major highways, and despite a state-imposed vehicular restriction from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., vehicles were seen moving freely in Osogbo.

The aggrieved should head to Court with the evidence unfortunately the APC/APM/LP cannot do that because they withdrew from the heavily-contested election.
