Obasanjo has spoken highly of his former boss Gen Ironsi, who was brutally murdered by Northern soldiers on July 29th 1966 in their warped attempt to "revenge" for the "killings of their leaders" on January 15th 1966. This is inspite of the fact that General Ironsi played a pivotal role in squashing the revolutionary coup of Kaduna Nzeogwu

The same Obasanjo has spoken of Major Nzeogwu and his patriotic credentials. Infact, immediately after he was released from prisons following Abachas death, Obasanjo quickly visited Okpanam to check on the then aging mother of Major Nzeogwu. In several instances, Obasanjo has attested to the fact that he was in constant communications with Nzeogwu and co during the war.

Just few hours ago, General Babangida released a series of earth shaking facts about the January 15th coup, by stating categorically that it was NEVER an igbo coup. You have to remember that the notion that that coup was part of an igbo agenda to eliminate the leaders of the other regions and to "dominate", led to the progoms in northern Nigeria in 1966, which ultimately led to the Nigeria-Biafra war that went on for 30 months and gulped close to 5 million lives!

At the helm of the government at this period was one General Gowon! In his recent book, General Babangida accused him of not doing enough to safeguard the igbos during the northern massacres/progoms which gulped almost half a million lives of mainly easterners living in the north after the failed Jan15 1966 coup. This dereliction of duty, ultimately led to the declaration of Biafra by General Ojukwu and the attendant carnage that erupted thereof.

In all these, General Gowon has been mute! Instead of stating the facts the way they are, he has been busy transversing different eastern villages asking for forgiveness. This, when all he should do as a Christian son of a pastor, is to state the facts and the truths and damn the damnable consequences if any. Gowon is in his 90s. The clock is ticking for everyone but ticks quicker as we get older. He was the commander in Chief of the war army. He has a responsibility to set the records straight.

It was a genocide against an INNOCENT group! Gowon should step forward and say the truth as he prepares to meet his maker.

And the time is NOW!

Yakubu Gowon must tell NIGERIANS the TRUTH before he joins his ancestors.
Yakubu Gowon also have a lot of truth's and secret to tell NIGERIANS about the Civil war. Edited History have painted the NIGERIA civil war to make Ojukwu take the blame why the civil war started.
Gowon must tell NIGERIANS why he failed to Obey the Aburi accord and what exactly led to the NIGERIA civil war.

He should also tell the world who actually gave the military orders for the October 1967 Asaba Massacre.

If he was not involve, why did the likes of Murtala Mohammed did not face charges on crimes against humanity.

Where exactly did Ibb said it was NEVER an Igbo coup?

Yes he described Nzeogwu as an Hausanised Igbo man who lived most of his life in the north, which is not in anyway different from many Igbos living in Lagos, a sizeable number of which speaks better Yoruba than Igbo..does that mean they are not Igbo?

Yes he said about junior Igbo officer died in the coup..an upright young man, unwill8ng to compromise with the coup planners, but can you compare that to the Number of Yorubas and Hausas that Died?

That Obasanjo is friends with Nzeogwu and choose to remain so even after Nzeogwu's death, does that mean Nzeogwu and his co planners are now no longer guilty?

Yes their is a sprinkle of yoruba officers involved in the coup, just like we have some fighting beside Ojukwu on the ill fated Biafran adventure.

It doesn't change the Fact that, no single Top politician or Military personnel from the East was killed.

Zik was conveniently out of the country while his colleagues from other part of the country were being slaughtered, and he was the first to grant an interview where he said power has been handed over to Ironsi(Another Igbo man, who was the most senior Military man at the time, who also was conveniently spared)

This people killed the prime minister and the premier of all the regions, except the Igbo region . Their wife was also killed in some cases.

Even though this coup was said to have failed, Ironsi an Igboman who was in charge, did not prosecute or punish anyone for the coup.

So what are you waiting for? Is it until they carry banners and Labels proclaiming the coup as Igbo that you will believe it is an Igbo coup?

It is as much Igbo as the coup that occur 6 months down the line is Hausa. To label it otherwise is engagement in deception and self delusion

Why are you yorubas grossly pained by the revelation by IBB?

Was Saudana a yoruba? Why are you bent on the narrative of Igbo coup? So Nzeogwu is now Igbo? What is the problem?

Sometimes when you guys make this argument, I overlook it because I always think you're trolling. And you must be trolling, since no one in his right sense should be thinking this way. These is no way any right thinking mind will be surprised as to why the Biafran soldiers tried taking over lagos..

I mean you allowed northern soldiers to stay comfortably in Lagos, sending warplanes and bombs from the southwest to come and bomb markets, hospitals and churches in the east, making beach landings in the eastern shorelines after taking off from Lagos, and when the Biafrans attack lagos, you wriggle out of your rat holes to ask "why"!?
