I do not know if we are the only ones (myself and friend) yet to receive a mail to onboard on the new website. Don't know if it is right to go ahead and create a profile on the new platform

Have you attempted to cancel the appointment? Since you said you have not paid, you can click on the option to cancel appointment. Note, this does not apply if you have paid the MRV fee because whenever you cancel a pending appointment request, you forfeit any MRV fee you may have paid.

If that does not work, you can use your AVITS profile to book their appointment.

To use your own profile, click on "create new appointment" and when you get to the question of "relationship to applicant", you have the following options: Self/Spouse/Child/Parent/Group Member

Simply choose "parent". Then go ahead to fill their details individually and make corresponding payment. Remember to use all details associated with your parents i.e. when filling personal details just before payment, use your parents' email and phone number not yours.

Alternatively, you can create a new profile using any other mail your parents have and proceed from there.

Hello Bosses in the house, I paid application fee for my family and I since September on the avits platform, I checked back a couple of days later to schedule appointment but saw an error message that the payment was not successful due to insufficient amount paid but I was debited (I'm thinking this could have been a case of exchange rate). I have not been able to get this resolved since then, several tickets have been raised and even chats and calls but no resolution yet. Please is anyone experiencing this or does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this, thank you.

It was automatically sent. Long before i had to search for it you should get it from their official email

Wondering if anyone has experience rescheduling dates for parents. Right now both mom and dad have the same interview date and time but I found an earlier slot but its only letting me pick one of them at a time and I want to avoid a situation where they end up with separate dates.

It can be done, but its a gamble, doing it one after the other...
What i wud do if i were u..get another person to log in as well...so u effect both changes simultaneously on different devices.

The visa officer that interviews you holds back your passport for stamping, so it’s technically not possible to submit your passport by yourself in Lagos after your interview in Abuja. However you can select Lagos as the pickup point by modifying same in the delivery section on AVITS.

You have to do it one after the other. Another way you can ensure that they get the same date is to make sure the date you want to change to have at least two separate time slots available, that way you can tell that there’s slots available. But if on the date you saw, there’s only one time slot, there’s a chance that there’s only one applicant slot available.

Be firm with your responses. They hardly ever check documents so you have to convince them with whatever you want to say.

E.g what's the purpose of your visit? I'm going to Baltimore for a 2weeks family vacation in July.

what do you do? I am an engineer, I work with CNL( you can say a little bit about the company). They don't know what you are talking about unless you explain. It eases their job too. Make sure you have strong ties here in Nigeria. Dont let other refusals scare you.

Is your missed appointment showing expired on your avits dashboard...if your trip in near/important...you cud consider paying another visa fee, if not a dew people here hv been fortunate..and got a direct email from the embassy out of the blues to appear for interview

I raised a ticket. And after some days like a week, it was resolved.

It took 4 days for it to change to approved after submission. Submitted Tuesday and it was approved the next Monday.

In summary, you have less than two minutes to convince the visa officer of your eligibility for the NIV. Make your answers concise and precise from the very first word, and avoid being patronizing.

B1 Visa. They don't check documents. Don't waste your time and energy.
