the armed forces, as the only remaining institution of national cohesion, were becoming torn into factions; something needed to be done lest we lose the nation itself. My greatest fear was that division of opinion and views within the armed forces could lead to factionalisation in the military. If allowed to continue and gain root, grave dangers lay ahead.

Antagonise the civil populace

“My predecessor in office, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, and his deputy, Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon, had separated themselves from the mainstream of the armed forces by personalising what was initially a collective leadership. They both posited a ‘holier than thou’ attitude, antagonising the civil populace against the military. Fundamental rights and freedoms were being routinely infringed upon and abused. As a military administration, we were now presiding over a society that was primarily frightened of us. We were supposed to improve their lives and imbue the people with hope for a better future.


Already buhari was a failure yet Nigerians voted for him in 2015 because the younger generation never knew him. They are joining heads with some of the older generations whom have been eaten deep into the heart with ethic bigotry to say IBB is lying that he wants to change history they don't know how long IBB it took IBB to write that book. Did any one bothered enough to read the entirety of the epistle of falsehood from the gap toothed traitor in chief? If yes, can the person tell me what he said about the following -
1) The 10 billion dollars gulf war oil windfall

2) whether the military top hierarchy he as a so called general claims threatened his life if he handed over power was not consulted when the transitional program was set in motion from 1991 to return to democracy..As in were they always in objection to a civilian rule when he was spawning his SDP and NRC parties for Nigeria as far back as 1989 !

Naira was doing pretty finely, even during Buhari/Idiagbon era because Buhari was paying back debts incurred by Shagari and he was also curbing government wastages and excesses.

Babangida made money during Iraq/Iran war and he wasted it. Only relocation of federal capital and a few other projects were carried out, like water projects (in this loyal military boys states only) and he didn’t even finish the project. Oil-for-bridge was used in construction of 3rd Mainland Bridge but not cash from our oil windfall.

$10 Billion USD can’t be lesser than $300 Billion today.
That money alone can construct Nigeria to the level of present day better parts of South Africa and even better than that - I mean all over Nigeria. Not only a few cities.
