People have asked why NAFDAC shut the entire Bridge Head Market? They ask why the agency closed shops that are not involved in selling drugs and why they refused to allow anyone into the market. They also ask why soldiers are involved in the operation. In 2019 NAFDAC got a tip off that illegal drugs were being wharehoused and sold at the plumbing materials section of the market. They went to the market with policemen to search the specific shops that were suspected of being used to store illegal drugs (they didn't close the market, they went to inspect the specific shops). The NAFDAC officials and policemen were attacked and mobbed by traders. They had to retreat without carrying out their mission. However, NAFDAC continued to receive information that illegal drugs were being sold in various parts of the market. The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, gave NAFDAC security cover and troops cordoned off the market to ensure that nobody could mob or attack the NAFDAC officials. NAFDAC officials and policemen went into the market and in the presence of the chairman of the plumbing materials section, they found that shops in that section were being used as wharehouses to store illegal drugs. NAFDAC is currently searching other parts of the market and they have announced that they will allow traders to come into the market in batches, open their shops for NAFDAC to search and then the traders will be allowed back in if nothing illegal is found in the shop. They will continue to brag that they are all billionaires whereas their modu operandi is to destroy lives through different criminal activities. Why will some people be this heartless cos they want to make money at all cost. I wonder how many lives they have ruined in that region as well as Lagos. NAFDAC should beam more search on them and their fake billionaires. They are lives destroyers disguising as billionaires. |

Na wa o So this place has been notorious for selling fake drugs since 2007 I would be better for collective punishment to be given to everyone in that section of the market including the chairman of the market for turning a blind eye to what they may be aware of just like what happened in pantaka in abuja when those iron condemn was selling stolen man holes to someone and everyone got punished Everyone becomes an automatic police agent against such nefarious action and would quickly notify the authorities if something as sinister as fact drugs are being sold in the market Do they have any idea how dangerous fake drugs are, its equivalent to blood money. People who are sick using there hard earned money to get drugs only for them to turn out to be fake and many losing their lives in that process |

Since 2019, NAFDAC has acted unethically and has not taken steps to collaborate with the union to ensure daily market access or establish an office within the market to regulate drug movement. Instead, they choose to shut down all businesses, including those of genuine drug sellers, unfairly punishing them. We are all fighting against fake drugs, but shutting down legitimate businesses along with counterfeit ones is not the solution. How am I supposed to feed my family if my genuine drug business is forcibly closed? It simply doesn’t make sense. |

naptu2:This is just sad No human empathy, why resort to wickedness all in the name of wealth. How do these people even sleep at night knowing that someone sick is going to die because of their fake drugs. If Nigeria was a sane place, anyone having such drugs in their possession should be jailed. I hope PSN will stand firm and ensure that all that import, buy and sell drugs are registered with if possible a monthly or unannounced visit to theit shops once in a while and if there's a case of fake drug reported then Government and health agencies should trace this drug to its source. |

I like the approach to this situation . NAFDAC should introduce whistle blowing to this fake food and drug issues with handsome reward to the whistle blowers. It would go a long way in this fight. |

At this point it will not be out of place to say that successive Anambra state governments support the activities of these monsters. Enough is enough. One section of the country cannot keep jeopardising the health of Nigerians. |
