Please don't open that market. Eastern medicine dealers are psychopaths. They kill and maim with fake drugs just to make profit and on Sunday, you see them licking communion during mass with hands held together in a pseudo sombre mood.

My class rep in university, used to trade in that same market and when I told him about how St Dora Akunyili dealt with the drug mafia, Marcel Anakwe dem, the guy was surprised how I knew the backstory.

The people are devils in human form. Imagine buying white powder, concealed in capsules and branded as antibiotics for your ailing daughter..

Why closing a whole market? The drug section is just 2 to 3 lines of shops while there are over 80 to 100 lines selling different things

This are market where they have to clothing section, building materials section, cosmetic section, foodstuffs station etc. Its a big market...

You can't close down the whole market instead close the affected section of the market.

What has someon who sells vegetables n red oil got to do with this matter that u close down sources of livelihood.
That's why they were storing illicit drugs in the plumbing materials section abi? NAFDAC will complete its assignment and everyone will wait till the process is completed or go to hell. Evil patrons!

You're more concerned about loosing money than probably millions of lives that fake and adulterated drugs and drinks might have sent to their early graves,if NAFDAC had listen to Mr Obi's to hurriedly open the market, how would they have found those fake drugs In the plumbing section of the market.

NAFDAC should open the market after they must've conclude their investigation.

My aged parents has not been able to go to market n sell despite what they sell is not in anyway related to drugs or close to that section.

Whst will they eat? This is a period where there is hunger in the land
I understand what you are saying but most of these illicit drugs were warehoused within those surrounding markets. After this exercise, the vegetable sellers, foodstuff, cosmetics, building materials markets around there should resist the ogbo ogwu people from having warehouse within their own markets.

Nigeria and sledgehammer approach to problem solving. Why close the whole market and penalize innocent traders for the sins of a few?
These drugs are imported so who are the customs officers that cleared them? Who imported them? Cant only the shops where fake products are found be closed?

You will not mind closing Lagos and Kano markets because of hunt for fake products?
The stupidity is that your tribalistic mind doesn't see the precedence of a wrong action in SE, not knowing that you are going to have the same thing happening to you soon.

How is the market notorious? What kind of narrative are you pushing? The Onitsha market is not the only market in the country where we have discovered fake products. Why is it the only market to be closed?
Wherever you find them, our people are behind it - onitsha, Aba, nnewi, idumota, trade fair, Kano etc.

Expired and cobtraband drugs were found in the plumbing section. So Nafdac is right to close down the entire market and reopen it on a case by case basis.

Many of the shop owners have refused to turn up for the inspection and re-opening process. This is easy to explain. Many of those shops contain contraband material. Otherwise why not present yourself, get your shop inspected and reopen immediately?

The Assembly simply wants NAFDAC to reopen the market.

Close the shops where the fakes are sold. Arrest the culprits, and prosecute them.

Then re-open the market.
