Funny how Oando’s $1.5 billion from ConocoPhillips just *magically* made them the perfect fit for Guaracara, almost like it was all planned behind closed doors. 🥴
It was a bid. Oando was the preferred bidder.
Coincidentally, RENO OMOKRI was in Trinidad and Tobago few days ago. He visited YORUBA VILLAGE and the LUCUMI (LUKUMI) people of Trinidad and Tobago. These are YORUBA people whose ancestors were migrated there during slave trade.

Interesting connection, but let’s not stretch the thread too thin, Oando’s bid was about financial muscle and refinery expertise, not ancestral ties or RENO OMOKRI’s visit, unless we’re suggesting there’s a secret Yoruba refinery Illuminati at play here.

I am too matured and exposed to answer you on RENO OMOKRI visit otherwise, I would be wasting my time. Yes you are right about financial muscle. I didn't see refinery expertise. I said coincidentally RENO OMOKRI was at Trinidad and Tobago. The person I replied said $1.5 billion PhillipsConoco acquisition in Nigeria shouldn't have been the only consideration. A parallel event that is coincidental has nothing to do with an event started almost a year that is not related with it.

Fair point, but let’s not dismiss the fact that Oando’s financial strength and upstream experience do matter, refinery expertise can be built or partnered on, but $1.5 billion doesn’t just fall out of the sky.
And hey, if maturity means ignoring coincidences, then I guess we’re all just out here connecting dots for fun, but don’t worry, I’ll leave the Yoruba Village Illuminati theories to the *truly* exposed. 😉

Fair enough, let’s agree that Oando’s bid makes sense on paper, and leave the coincidences to the universe (or the conspiracy theorists). Cheers to keeping it simple! 🍻

It's too complex for you to understand wink

Oil and gas business is not recharge card business.

To raise $1.5 billion is huge and Oando achieved that feat about 2 decades ago, it bought out a major IOC like ConocoPhillips and still holding the assets till date.

The point is that if it could do that and still remain in business then it's more likely to repeat same for their refinery. BTW, Trinidad and Tobago is the highest oil and gas producing nation in the whole Caribbean. That refinery may also own oil producing licenses wink

True, raising $1.5 billion is no small feat, and Oando’s track record is impressive, but let’s not pretend the oil and gas game isn’t also about who you know, not just what you know.
And hey, if understanding this business means comparing it to recharge cards, maybe you’re the one oversimplifying, wink, wink. 😉

Your wahala too much. Your line of thoughts too is not balanced. We need importers to keep importing so that dangote is not only source of this product. This ensures competition which will key the price in check.
In that case we should import cement too.

When people are fast moving to renewable energy... The next mechanical device I'm buying must be rechargeable even cars and bikes.
People have started dumping their electric cars and returned to gasoline/diesel vehicle because of the stress that's comes with it. One tiktoker was even crying dramatically about how she teases her Toyota for a Tesla and regrets everyday. Contrary to reports that fossil fuel vehicles and equipment will be phased out by 2050 in the western world, that will still remain functional in the centuries to come. The world cannot do without crude oil and it's derivatives no matter how many "green energy" gadgets are introduced.

Nigerian should train unemployed graduates how to run and operate refineries.
Send them abroad to the best refineries and let them study relevant courses
Lets control the refinery market globally
With expertise.
And it does not take much to do that

That's an unfair competition. You don't use imported products to compete with local products. Competition should be among local refineries in Nigeria, Let the government refineries compete with dangote.

For a government who promised 50 million jobs yet exporting the same jobs that should be for Nigerians to foreign companies. It's a shame.

Truth is, Tinubu diverting Nigeria's funds to family business.

But, if Buhari, Atiku or a Northerner had remained in power, everything will still be waisted away as usual too. Perhaps, laundering it via Dangote projects or other usual proxies.

Nigeria & Venezuela will continue to be the biggest paradox of this age as countries with vast oil and mineral resources but citizens in abject poverty due to untamed corruption and greed.

With corruption as our norm and requirement for entry and sustainability of public and leadership offices, we will still be deceiving ourselves.
You have Oil in your brain.

Well said 💯👏
