waleayeni1:I have a 4048, will advise you to get that instead of the 24 version (4024) simply because it's easier to run high capacity lithium battery in 48v instead of 24v. Both are same capacity though just different battery system voltage. Also you get to run higher number of solar panels in 48 configuration rather than 24v with same solar charge controller. There is no "minimum number" in battery configuration. You buy battery according to your load needs. You can get a 500wh lithium battery in both 24v and 48v. Same inverter can also work with a 60000wh or 60kwh battery. Using generator analogy, your inverter is the generator, your battery is the petrol. The amount of fuel you buy is dependent on how long you plan to use the generator. This is applicable to inverter too, size of battery depends on the load to be powered and the duration you want it powered. waleayeni1:Here is a DIY thread, users here often reply to posts they have experience in or interested in. No one will deliberately ignore a post made by a user. Also no one here is paid to reply messages so reply may be slow. Cheers. |

day 3 of having this battery configuration issue. The battery is showing as low while the inverter reads 53.9V. I've tried everything I've seen online, and the shinewifi dongle isn't coming up at all when plugged to the inverter. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. |

Please make sure you followed the instruction as stated on your user manuals. Secondly, It is advisable to always restart your Inverter and Battery when changing protocols. I would recommend that you also get another patch cord (75cm Lan Cable) to swap out your communication cable and see if it resolves the issue. Also make sure that your systems (Inverter and Battery) are properly grounded to avoid ESD damages which is common in this field. If these does not fix the issue, Do it my style. YANK BOTH THE INVERTER AND BATTERY TO YOUR VENDOR'S OFFICE AND HAVE THEM PROOVE TO YOU THAT EVERYTHING IS OK. Yes because sometimes these devices may have a factory defects or damages inflicted during logistics and the supplier will always tell you that you might be doing it the wrong way. So I would swallow my pride, storm their office with the device and have them assemble it in their office and most times it turns out that i have been right all along, so they will try to convince you to turn it in for service. burnerr:

Hi, guys. So I did a parallel connection of 3 350w panels, with each having a maximum current of 13.6a. And I've noticed that whenever the sun is very high my DC breaker would go off and the system will stop charging. I'd have to turn it back on b4 it resumes charging. The wire is a 4mm² coated wire. Please, what do I have to change to rectify this? |

KA24DETT:That's nice and makes alot of sense, but I wouldnt like to void the warranty tho. Also there's no space in my place for 3x of the inverter's capacity in solar panels to stay. Then the money again is another issue in present day Naija |

burnerr:Also, read this and follow up instructions carefully Error 04: This indicates that the inverter detects the battery voltage or State of Charge (SOC) as too low. It could stem from an actual low battery voltage, a mismatch in settings, or a communication issue affecting voltage readings. Error 20: This points to a BMS (Battery Management System) communication failure between the inverter and the Hope 5.5L-A1 battery, often due to incorrect settings, faulty cabling, or compatibility issues. Since the Hope 5.5L-A1 is a Growatt branded battery, it should be compatible with the SPF 6000ES, but proper configuration is key to resolving these errors. Recommended Configuration Steps Here’s how to configure your system: 1. Verify Physical Connections Battery to Inverter: Ensure the battery power cables (positive and negative) are securely connected to the inverter’s battery terminals, with no loose connections or corrosion. Communication Cable: The Hope 5.5L-A1 typically uses a CAN bus for BMS communication. Connect an RJ45 cable between the battery’s CAN port and the inverter’s BMS port. Use the cable provided by Growatt, as pin assignments matter (e.g., CAN-H and CAN-L must match). Battery Breaker: Confirm the battery breaker is ON and the battery is outputting power. 2. Check Battery Voltage Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage at the terminals. The Hope 5.5L-A1 is a 48V nominal battery, so a healthy voltage should be between 48V and 54V (depending on SOC). If it’s below 42V, it may need charging via solar or grid before the inverter can operate properly. 3. Inverter Settings Access the SPF 6000ES settings via the LCD display and buttons. Adjust the following parameters (refer to the SPF 6000ES manual for navigation): Program 05 (Battery Type): Set to “LI” (Lithium) to enable BMS communication. Since the Hope 5.5L-A1 is a Growatt battery, select the appropriate lithium protocol: Likely L01 or L03 (specific to Growatt ARK/Hope series). Check the battery manual or contact Growatt support to confirm the exact protocol code for the 5.5L-A1. Avoid “USE” or “US2” unless BMS communication fails entirely (more on this later). Program 02 (Max Charging Current): Set to a safe value, e.g., 60A-100A, depending on your battery’s specs (Hope 5.5L-A1 typically supports up to 100A charging). Program 01 (Output Source Priority): Set to “SBU” (Solar-Battery-Utility) or “SUB” (Solar-Utility-Battery) based on your preference. Program 12 (Battery Low Voltage Cutoff): Set to 42V-44V to prevent deep discharge. Program 13 (Battery Back-to-Grid Voltage): Set to 48V-50V to ensure the battery charges adequately. Program 19 (CV Charging Voltage): Set to 56.4V (default for most 48V lithium batteries, including Growatt’s). Program 20 (Float Charging Voltage): Set to 54V or as recommended by the Hope 5.5L-A1 manual. 4. Test BMS Communication After setting Program 05 to “LI” with the correct protocol, restart the inverter by turning it off and back on. Check the LCD for battery SOC and voltage readings. If Error 20 disappears and SOC displays correctly, communication is established. 5. Troubleshooting Errors If errors persist: Error 04 Persists: The battery may be too discharged. Charge it externally (via solar panels or a charger) until it reaches at least 48V, then reconnect. Verify the inverter’s voltage reading matches your multimeter. If not, there may be a wiring issue or inverter fault. Error 20 Persists: Double-check the RJ45 cable integrity. Swap it with a known working cable if possible. Ensure the battery’s firmware and inverter’s firmware are up to date and compatible. Contact Growatt support for the latest firmware if needed. As a fallback, set Program 05 to “US2” (User-Defined without BMS). This disables BMS communication and relies on voltage-based control. Adjust Programs 19 and 20 as above, but this is less optimal for battery health. 6. Additional Checks Battery Health: If the Hope 5.5L-A1 has been deeply discharged repeatedly, it might be in a protection mode. Reset it per the battery manual (usually involves turning it off/on or pressing a reset button). Inverter Logs: Review the inverter’s fault log (if accessible) for more context on when Errors 04 and 20 trigger. Next Steps Try these steps and monitor the system. If Errors 04 and 20 still occur, let me know: The exact battery voltage you measure. Whether the BMS communication works after setting “LI” with the correct protocol. Any additional behavior (e.g., inverter shutting down, alarms). This should resolve the issue, but if not, we can dig deeper into hardware or firmware causes. Let me know how it goes! |

burnerr:(1)Connect from battery PCS port to inverter BMS port (2) Use protocol L51 (3) Your dipswitch settings, number 1 should be on why 234 should be off. This is how i connected my growatt hope battery to my Growatt Inverter and it works well. |
