South African Celebrities Of African Foreign Descent by Samantha125(op): 11:40am On Mar 01, 2025
With Nigerians busy labelling SA a xenophobic nation, here are some of the respectful law abiding African foreign nationals who've managed to find a home in South Africa and coexist with the black South African community peacefully.

1. Shona Ferguson from Botswana
He was the founder of the Ferguson film production alongside his wife who's half Motswana and half South African... He has acted in many South African telenovelas and films including The Queen and Kings of Joburg... But he unfortunately succumbed to COVID19 back in 2021.

2. Joe Kazadi from the DRC
His mother was forced to flee the DRC together with his brother to South Africa during the war... Upon getting to SA, he could neither speak English or understand any of the local languages as he only spoke French and Swahili... But he went ahead and learnt both English and Zulu, he's now fluent in both languages, which enables him to get acting roles as both a South African Zulu and as a foreign national due to his fluency in French and Swahili... He's known for his roles in The Queen, Uzalo, Scandal, and Smoke and Mirrors

Well,it's just a matter of time before you lots would start attacking them xenophobically shocked.

3. Sonni Chidiebere from Nigeria
I don't know much about his life story apart from knowing that he's a Nigerian South African actor known for his role in Yizo Yizo and Redemption

4. Oskido from Zimbabwe
Even though he was born in South Africa to a South African mother and a Zimbabwean father, he was raised in Zimbabwe and only came back to SA in his early 20s.

He's well known as a kwaito and house DJ... He has denounced his Zimbabwean identity to a point that he even rejected a BAA award from Zimbabwe back in 2019, citing that he identifies as a South African and not a Zimbabwean since he was born in South Africa despite having a Zimbabwean father and being raised in Zimbabwe.

Re: South African Celebrities Of African Foreign Descent by Samantha125(op): 12:51pm On Mar 01, 2025
5. Chioma Umeala, she's of Nigerian descent

She was born to a Xhosa mother and a Nigerian father, she's we'll known for her role in Isono... She's has expressed challenges of getting roles to act as a South African due to her inability to speak any of the local languages... This should be a lesson learnt to all Nigerians planning to legally raise their children in SA, make sure that they can at least speak one local language... It'll benefit them in the long run.

Shouldn’t the term "labelling" apply to situations where someone is falsely accused of something? For example, Black South Africans are, in reality, some of the most welcoming people on earth. Yet, they are often (and falsely) labeled as xenophobic by their Nigerian counterparts.

If there’s one person in a neighborhood who has issues with everyone else, isn’t it more likely that the problem lies with that individual rather than everyone around them? Similarly, when a group has issues with people from different countries, aren't we justified in looking into this group for why they can't get along with different other groups?

It’s true that some Nigerians enter South Africa through illegal means and engage in criminal activities. However, this doesn’t mean that all Nigerians fall into this category, nor does it negate the reality of xenophobia in South Africa. This xenophobia isn’t directed solely at Nigerians but extends to other African nationals as well. South Africa’s own cyberspace is filled with evidence of this deep-seated hatred. And let’s not forget the incidents of outright violence that have erupted in the past as a result.

If foreigners are in a country illegally or committing crimes, shouldn’t law enforcement and immigration agencies handle the situation in a civilized and lawful manner? Why must citizens resort to murder and the destruction of property to address issues that their own government seems unable to resolve? How can a legal immigrant—someone who is actively contributing to the economy of their host country—feel safe and at peace when the air they breathe is saturated with so much hatred?

If you're a legal immigrant and you don't feel safe or at peace in South Africa, then leave because no one is forcing you to stay and contribute to South Africa's economy.

I'll personally never live in a country whereby I don't feel safe or at peace.

That's the xenophobia we're talking about. You shouldn't have to feel that way in the first place if you're a legal, law abiding immigrant. Personally, I don't even want to know what SA looks like, not to mention breathe its air.

8. Ntate Stunna from Lesotho
I honestly don't take these small countries seriously, but since they don't want to be associated with South Africa, who am I to judge? Because we'll still deport them if they come to SA illegally... Anyways, he's a Mosotho rapper born and raised in Lesotho, he came to South Africa to pursue his music career.

Many to know him by the song "stimela"
