https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypnq3D3EHDw Frontline human rights activist and lawyer, Maxwell Opara Esq has urged Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara to comply with the supreme court order. On the other hand, the Rivers State government has said that it would decide its next step when it gets details of the Supreme Court judgment on the lingering political crisis in the state. The State Commissioner for Information, Joseph Johnson, in a statement said, the state government has taken note of reports in the media regarding the judgment of the Supreme Court concerning the funds of Rivers State and the administration of local governments in the state. He said: “At this time, we are awaiting a detailed briefing on the implications of the judgment. We will carefully evaluate the situation and determine the next steps to take in the best interest of Rivers State and its people. “Though we have not gotten the details of the judgment from our legal team, we enjoin Rivers people to remain calm, law abiding and go about our legitimate businesses as we seek clarity on the judgment. “We believe that the determination of the main issue of defection of the 27 lawmakers is a matter not before the Supreme Court as it is pending at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Since the issue of defection wasn’t on the table before the learned Justices, in their eyes, Amaewhule and the 26 others are still operating as lawmakers until that matter of defection comes before them.” Johnson, however, gave assurances that the state government remains committed to upholding its mandate to protect the best interest and the rule of law in all matters affecting Rivers State.

Fubara was misled. Falana and other lawyers did not do well at all. Fubara himself was arrogant. |

All this courtroom noise is a distraction that prevents Nazi Mazi Kanu from experiencing the jailhouse environment without undue noise. Ever since the prison authorities restored the right of Nazi Mazi's cult followers to visit their guru in jail to lick his nasty shoes, the need to free Kanu was eliminated, which means he can enjoy the full life in jail sentence that the judge will award him very soon. Please, just stop all this court room drama so that Nazi Mazi can have time to reflect on his life as a terrorist who will never be freed even if he repents, because of the sheer number of people that died as a direct result of Kanu's illegal "sit-at-home" reign of terror. Kanu must now be allowed to enjoy his personal "sit-in-jail" program deep in the darkest bowels of hell.

What kind of irony is this? I do not really follow the Fubara-Wike beef but advising a politician to accept Supreme Court Order after your Client proudly jumped bail and proceeded to throw insults at the Supreme Court is quality irony. |

We believe that the determination of the main issue of defection of the 27 lawmakers is a matter not before the Supreme Court as it is pending at the Federal High Court in Port HarcourtWhich kin legal gymnastics be this one? Let's even assume the matter was not before the SC, but now that the learned justices have effectively ruled on it, are they expecting a lower court to counter the judgement?? 😧 |

Let's hope he listens. Before you know it people like Ugo C. and his propagandists on Nairaland will concoct another Supreme Court interpretation to deceive their gullible followers here on Nairaland. For me, those 27 lawmakers that endured the embarrassment for almost 2years without resort to violence are the real heroes. I also praise Wike and Tinubu for not being tempted to use sudden brute force. Non of them resorted to self help which some opposition would have engaged in but patiently waited on the Judiciary to make final pronouncement. Now the ball is in Fubaras court. Let's see if he can take half of what he dished out to the lawmakers. |
