The bridge is one of two or more built at the turn of the 20th century in a lush nature reserve where the colonial gov’t resided in Onitsha. The area we now know today as Onitsha GRA. A suspension bridge was also built in the area around the same time by the colonial administration.

The pics are from a website named A Mighty Tree (named after Obi Okosi of Onitsha), and it chronicles the developments and upward socio-economic trajectory Onitsha was witnessing at the time the author was based in the city….developments cut short by the daft Nzeogwu led coup!
