No fewer than two people, including the driver and motor boy, have died when a tanker, suspected to be ladened with petroleum products, exploded in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

The incident, which happened in the early hours of Tuesday at the New Garage area, Oluyole local government area of the city, has thrown the entire people in the neighborhood into a state of mourning.

Men of the Oyo State Fire Service, with the assistance of the security agencies, are battling hard to prevent the inferno from spreading to other commercial outlets and residential buildings.

The incident has disrupted human and vehicular movements in the area.

Why do these incidents keep recurring and nothing has been done? Other countries transport petroleum products via different mediums, why are we still stuck to doing the same thing the same way? Sigh.

Exactly. It's not like we are the only country making use of fuel and transporting it. But Nigerians are so careless and constantly taking shortcuts, safety is not a priority, lack of education is also another problem.
