Funny country : Nigerian government confirms plan to pay Tinubu 7.7 trillion naira under the guise of subsidy refunds
Tinubu is the most corrupted politician in the history of our country.
25 years of balablu increase of the tax burden on 20 million Lagosians who have nothing in return
as common services and utilities.

He has now elevated the corruption game of sadistic people to federal level.

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance. That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

Exactly, so why are you saying people didn't read the thread?
What you explained here is still called subsidy, no matter how you want to twist it.
You used the word 'intervened' which was exactly what govt did to make sure Nigerians got fuel at the price they got it rather than the actual high price it would have been sold by NNPCL.
It's safe to say the FG subsidized fuel for Nigerians.
But the government keep denying. Are u okay at all?

It's only fg and NNPC that understand all these technicalities,to a layman it's still subsidy payment.

If fg is still paying subsidies they should open up instead of all these terminologies.

May 29, 2023 our president said “Subsidy is gone”

When petrol was 187naira/l during Buhari regime, it was reported that Nigeria spent about 12 trillion naira on subsidy between 2015 and 2023 (8 years).

Our economy savers and economic experts spent 10.5 trillion naira on subsidy in just a year after they claimed, “Subsidy is gone”

Let’s not forget petrol was still sold for as high as 1300 Naira to a liter during this period.
Any right thinking Nigerian won't but wonder how majority of Nigerians keep falling for it from the same party: no subsidy (2012) to later realise it was a lie, subsidy is gone (2023) to later realise it was being paid.

Not even N1 trillion but close to N8 trillion? Even After removing subsidy?

Bro how weak is the naira? Shouldn’t it be getting strong? Why does it seem like the naira is only strong on paper?

I guess the naira is not really gaining value, it’s just the dollar getting weaker due to Trump’s policy. Cause the naira seems inflated as hell
just shows how irrelevant the nigerian economy is to the world stage. another country's currency is dictating how good your economy performs and not the economic activities of your country.

you don't know what you are talking about.
You have no clue what you’re talking about. I am already off-grid, saving myself hundreds of thousands every month, while the rest of you are still shackled to a failing energy system. I’ve already deployed a solar-powered home east of the Niger that runs an electric car—real action, not empty talk.

Meanwhile, Abia State’s government fleet already includes electric cars for its state assembly, and at least two EV manufacturers are operational in the East. The only thing missing is a unified directive from the five Eastern states: Go electric for all new government vehicles and mandate every local government and state ministry headquarters to install solar-powered charging stations.

If these states are serious about progress, they should match funds for transport companies to acquire electric buses, structured as monthly payments with single-digit interest rates. This isn’t just a dream—it’s a practical, inevitable shift. The infrastructure is within reach, the technology is here, and the only thing left is for leaders to stop stalling and start acting.

Did you read the article? The opposite of corporate governance is the reality with NNPCL. Did you read where it said there their reports are conflicting?

I have said this many times on NL, until the opaqueness and operational secrecy is broken, expecting any dividend to come out of NNPC would amount to daydreaming.

That is for one house, not for mass adoption.

The truth is, no part of Nigeria is ready for electric cars at all. It would require as I said an improvement in generation of power and an improvement in the grid to be able to carry millions of electric cars on the charge.

Electric cars are even beyond the reach of many Nigerians, plus we don't have enough people trained to repair and fix them

As for solar....for one house, it would cost millions. For mass electricity...not possible. To generate even 2000mw of power would require a large area of land, to be covered with nothing but solar power...and it would cost money, and it can't catch all the sunlight..and then remember we have rainy season all the time.

We are not ready. Even if we get ;enterpreneur....most won't be able to afford it.

What is ambiguous in the report?

May 2025, the president said Subsidy is a scam, and he has come to put an end to it. Subsidy is gone!

However, it was quietly reintroduced a month after his speech (June). We saw the policies he introduced.

People questioned if subsidy was truly gone, but the government aides denied it.

Two years after, we're seeing the govt announcing to us the value to be paid as fuel subsidy after increasing PMS price by over 600%. Same increase that has affected other sectors of the economy.

If its not a thing, then it wouldn't be a topic today. They can stall on the payment but eventually, they will pay the outstanding

As long as a country trades in the international markets, it is bound by what is called standardised currency and secondary currencies.

Even the Dollar "fights" against the Chinese Yuan, and Euro, amongst others.
For Nigeria, the dependency is too high!
