Culled from its website; the company operates in 48 countries and manages over 90 terminals globally, with an established presence in most African nations. DP World handles 70 million containers that are brought in by around 70,000 vessels annually. This equates to roughly 10% of global container traffic accounted for by their 82 marine and inland terminals present in over 40 countries. This is no less a big grab for Nigeria, the type of relatively more robust foreign direct investments from the oil rich continent of the Middle East. Think of the magnificence of industrial parks around our ports, your imagination is as splendid as mine. I can't wait a second longer. One of such a big grab is Saudi Arabia's Halal Product Development Company whereby Nigeria will be tapping into a $7.7trillion halal market. Excitingly, this company is investing in multiple sectors in Nigeria, ranging from food, pharmaceutical (extremely important at this critical point), finance, livestock, etc. A good example is the Islamic banking that has so far been of tremendous amount of relief to the country. If you throw the big boys from the middle east into the mix of an ambitious planning and set goals of the federal government, it is a recipe for achieving a $1trillion economy quicker than you might imagine. |

If you listened to Bitter People, you would think no foreign investor is willing to come invest in Nigeria. The gloomy pictures they paint of the country is a reflection of their personal lives. While Nigeria progresses, let wailers continue to wail, we like it like that. After God, na Tinubu 💪 God bless Nigeria |

Nigeria has given foreign countries control of their ports!!! Anyone with a modicum of sense will understand how dangerous that can be for the largest black race on earth. We need to be in control of our ports and borders. However, that has not been the case! 1. The Lekki deep see port is owned by the Chinese 2. The Atlantic Ocean water front is owned by the Lebanese and they even caused Nigerian owned businesses to be demolished for their own expansion. Now, I am not against any investment into Nigeria but have you noticed a lot of them seek to take control of critical infrastructure, from ports to free trade zones, to transportation infrastructures, IT IS CRITICAL for a country like Nigeria to control those assets of critical security!! Take a look at Haiti, French ownership of their main ports led to the discreet arming of gangs which has led to Haiti becoming deeply destabilized!! NIGERIA PLEASE WAKE UP!!!! |

This port should not be cited in SW. We don't want the elimination of our traditional and cultural values for the extremism of Islam in the near future. I fear for Yorubaland. |

Most of these industrial parks will not benefit Nigeria much in the long run. These people just want to take advantage of these parks' tax free status. For example, as huge as Dangote refinery is, it doesn't pay a kobo in corporate income tax to the Federal Government. That robs the government (and the people of this country) tens of billions of naira in tax earnings. You can't blame Dangote refinery for taking advantage. Previous governments set up the tax free zones. Thankfully, the new Tax Bills will correct some of the anomalies of these tax free zones going forward. That said, Lagos State is a major beneficiary of Dangote Refinery, through PAYE tax. I believe the Federal Government also receive VAT (not sure). |

magicminister:Your argument is sensible but let’s wait till we get the full info on the project before we start criticizing. Nigerians are really suffering. A project this big will benefit a lot of people directly and many more indirectly. A drowning man doesn’t care who saves him even if it’s his enemy. |
