just shows how irrelevant the nigerian economy is to the world stage. another country's currency is dictating how good your economy performs and not the economic activities of your country.
If the economic activity of our country was good, dollar will not even matter. It will just be another thing. But right now, it’s the best measure of what we have to dictate our standings cause we’re still import dependent.

Quote where you explain it .I ask because I want to learn
which is a better situation/state of affairs, 2billion that could buy 200 trailers of gravel vs 6 billion that can buy 80-100trailers of gravel?

Faac tripled, but the actual real value of the money has more than halved, and you the ordinary Nigerian who is most affected is rejoicing.

What a shambles! Smh

true

As long as a country trades in the international markets, it is bound by what is called standardised currency and secondary currencies.

Even the Dollar "fights" against the Chinese Yuan, and Euro, amongst others.
For Nigeria, the dependency is too high!
i agree

You have no clue what you’re talking about. I am already off-grid, saving myself hundreds of thousands every month, while the rest of you are still shackled to a failing energy system. I’ve already deployed a solar-powered home east of the Niger that runs an electric car—real action, not empty talk.

Meanwhile, Abia State’s government fleet already includes electric cars for its state assembly, and at least two EV manufacturers are operational in the East. The only thing missing is a unified directive from the five Eastern states: Go electric for all new government vehicles and mandate every local government and state ministry headquarters to install solar-powered charging stations.

If these states are serious about progress, they should match funds for transport companies to acquire electric buses, structured as monthly payments with single-digit interest rates. This isn’t just a dream—it’s a practical, inevitable shift. The infrastructure is within reach, the technology is here, and the only thing left is for leaders to stop stalling and start acting.
i applaud your effort
