Hollar111:Lots of information and data available online to aid in your decision making process. Is your field among the list of fields eligible for targeted draws ? Is your CR Score above 510 ? Will having a good score in French move your score above 500 ? No one can answer these except you |

orjohn24:2019-2022 was a better time to move to Canada than 2025. The next best time is probably in the future. Today March 1, 2025 is not the best time to make the move except you have someone willing to house you for as long as possible. I became a PR in 2022 and I feared the job market as a result opted to get a job before arriving in Canada. Today things are a lot more challenging as the country accepted way too many immigrants than the infrastructure on ground can manage. They are trying to clear the mess but it will still take another couple of months or a year for things to get better. I also won't advice anyone to consider immigrating via student route right now except they've got a lot of money. A good percentage of international students/work permit holders will not be able to transition to PR. PR slots have been lowered and the number of international students/work permit holders is way too high. |

tshtsh:Finding job even a survival job in Canada is extremely challenging now, and even Uber is no longer as profitable due to too many drivers and reduced patronage. Many new arrivals silently endure the struggle nd pain because speaking out is often seen as a sign of failure, while those still hoping to move to Canada may perceive it as discouragement |

I applied under the CEC pathway. I currently work as an Insurance Agent Team Member and sell all insurance product except Life Insurance, as I haven't got that license yet. What do I put as my NOC under Canadian Experience for this role? NOC 63100 is for Insurance Agent and Brokers and I'm not an Insurance Agent but an Insurance Agent Team. Though I went through the description for NOC 63100 and I do exactly all that was mentioned, but I don't want to put a wrong NOC code, because Insurance Agent are usually people who have an Insurance Agency. Kindly any advise what NOC to use? |

vickgrad:Congratulations!! I also got ITA in October under trade category. But I delayed a lot before submitting my application, I got AOR Dec 21. Judging from your timeline I hope to hear from them by month end. Fingers crossed! |

uchennay:The best one can do is to at least inform people so they can manage their expectations. An election is coming up within the next month or two. Both parties appear to have plans to reduce immigration (particularly temporary residents - students/post-graduate work permit holders). This policy will affect many students who moved to Canada in 2022/2023/2024 and are unable to transition to PR at the expiration of their work permits. Having a strategy is very important right now else the Canadian system will just suck an immigrant’s money and leave them stranded. |

tshtsh:Even before 2018 some international students that came to Canada to study after pqwp expired are unable to transition to PR and you can still wonder why,at that time PR slots are lower than now including PNP slots.. They are reducing temporary residents in canada for those already in Canada to transition to PR though numbers are huge and reduce housing shortage. After next election they are likely to continue to reign on temporary and permanent residents coming into the country and adjust PR particularly PNP slots..and in future a reform may be introduced to diversify international students admmission targeting to reduce admission of international students majority coming from one country alone which is India taking over 41% of overall international student admmission. The cuts on PNP PR slots is political, it is only to punish provinces not taken share of asylum seekers that came to ontario and quebec to ease pressure on the two provinces.. As for express entry, they are continuing to consider in canada applicants as priority in all categories of draws, except French proficiency draws.

Canada is hard, Canada is hard..., some people are finding their way quietly. I know someone on this thread that just bought his second house. He landed in the time that some of you all started posting about the hustle in the job market. Go read this lady's diary (@geekybabe) in the nairaland diary section, she gave perfect description of what the job market is from a personal experience. She landed a job in the end. Back at home, Nigerians buy jobs and buy their way through most things. Now I'm wondering how do some of them navigate through in the environment this competitive. |

Predator188:The number of TR's in Canada still outnumbers the number of annual PR slots by multiple folds. In UK TRs come in and leave after a few years but it hasn't been so with Canada |

LandingistForum:You guys should stop making a mockery of the thousands currently struggling in Canada, especially new arrivals, when it comes to jobs. Sharing just one or two examples while forgetting about the thousands who are struggling to find jobs, feeling depressed, and frustrated. The economy is facing a huge problem. Canada is bringing in a massive number of immigrants, but job creation is too low to meet the supply demand of the record high numbers arriving. With Trump’s 25% tariff hike to start today, Canada will likely face another round of layoffs in some industries . So, please, let’s be honest about the job market in Canada. People also bribe to get jobs sometimes in canada; it’s not a perfect society. Let’s call a spade a spade. Having a second house doesn’t mean the economy is doing well or it easy; there are many fraudulent ways to get a second nd third mortgage nd that what majority do to secure thoes loan to purchase thoes houses. If people are not telling you the truth, it’s important to be aware. Let’s pray for Canada, as economically, things are not heading in the right direction. GOD Help us all! |

LandingistForum:But there are lots of people that bought houses on mortgage 2 to 3 years after arrival in canada and it is not a big deal ,that doesn't mean also the person has fat bank account.. You should be aware that the government also pays housing benefit, including first home buyers amount paid by the government for first time home owners to suppress down payment made on mortgage with this even low income earners can purchase a house in canada.. Am sure this person you are talking about must have purchased a house on mortgage, then rent it out to pay for mortgage. As long as you have stable job in Canada, you can purchase house and have the minimum down payment...however it is an investment since you are not wasting part of your income on rent.. |

Predator188:Lol, you said it's not a big deal. Go to bank and ask for the requirements. You all paint this Canada like Nigeria is far better so you encourage people to stay back and enjoy. A good percentage of people in Nigeria get jobs via connections. Just know who's in charge and that's all. They're people in high end of their career that don't know what a job interview is like. People like that relocate abroad and start shouting Canada is bad upandan. To some people, it's just the change of environment they need and they can pick up perfectly regardless. People like that are on this platform (they read about the current changes happening and they are aware) But then you sing it to them from a generalized perspective. Tell us how many job interviews you attended. How you leveled up with skills and still can't find anything to match because immigrants full everywhere. Certificate you acquired since you left Nigeria. Tell us from your own experience like the lady I mentioned @geekybabe did and landed a job eventually. You walk into offices in Nigeria and you're surprised how some of these folks get to find their way there. Imagine if people like that travel out to face the real competition of getting a job |

LandingistForum:Even if you are officially unemployed but you can still afford the associated costs to runz doc and lawyer fees. You can secure a mortgage within 2 month of arriving in Canada and later purchase multiple houses. Corruption is a universal problem, and Canada is no exception, so let nobody deceive anyone, the indians don teach everybody as he dey go..l know many on low wage with 2 house and agent full canada doing mortage runz even if u have no job. And pls people dey use connection get job in canada too it not painting anything but reality of life here even in tech pls.am not saying nigeria better pass canada but no perfect place and things dey happen here too and job are hard now! |
