Dalohad:Why would Apabio step down, the petition will be referred to Senate Committee on Ethics for Review and Disciplinary actions. The Senate President is not in that committee. I only would suggest that he should allow the Deputy Senate President preside on the affairs of the day the Senate will review the submission of the committee when they present it to the Senate. |

Adebishow:I'm from Akwa Ibom and naturally should support Akpabio because he did so well as our Governor. However, in any parliament in the world when such allegation is made against a principal officer let alone the highest principal officer like Akpabio being the Senate President and Chairman of National Assembly, he ought to step down for proper investigation. That's the procedure |

id911:There is no such procedure or rule. Prove your frivolous allegations first. If there's such ridiculous rules, we simply need to pay 37 crazy people to accuse all 36 governors and the president, then they all step down. Then we proceed to every other institution, and organization to repeat the step downs. |

id911:When allegations were made against Saraki by a senator, did he step down? He remained Senate President while the investigation were done by a committee in the Senate. He only didn't preside over the affairs of the Senate on the day that the Senate discussed the report, findings, recommendations of the committee that investigated it. That is the proper way to go about it. Asking Apabio to step down because of unfounded allegations is unfair and most definitely set a bad precedent in the Senate. |

GanagiBitrus:So Kogi people could only send a love peddler to represent them at the senate? I don't fancy Akpabio as senate president, but this woman is a liar. That's was how she accused Reno Omokri and a former minister years ago and all were lies. |

| Re: Abuse Of Office: Natasha Akpoti Formally Petitions Akpabio During Senate Sitting by id911(m): 1:39pm On Mar 05, 2025 |
Adebishow:I didn't say he should step down per say because I still like him because of his past performance as a governor. What I'm saying is, such allegations bring disrepute to the Senate and the highest officer being the subject of the case shouldn't be around so as not to influence the outcome of investigation of his case. That's supposed to be the norm Sir. |

It doesn't work like that, it goes to the ethics committee not the Senate president. What do you understand sef. A sitting senator is presenting a petition for her fellow senators, you are here talking about ethics Committee. She has just done the formal right thing and get the film started. Get a bottle of ice coke and peanuts to enjoy the scenes. |
| Re: Abuse Of Office: Natasha Akpoti Formally Petitions Akpabio During Senate Sitting by Adebishow: 1:44pm On Mar 05, 2025 |
id911:He shouldn't be in the ethics committee that will investigate the petition - yes. To the best of my knowledge, Senate President is not in that committee. But that he should not be around in the house - I don't agree. Why should he leave while they are independently doing their investigation? Is the motive of the petitioners to get him out of the Senate? You can't kick him out of the house even if he is found guilty, the Senate can punish him but the only persons that can remove him from the Senate completely are people in his constituency, they would have to recall him. |

It will head no where. Mere allegations is not enough. Natasha is badly advised. |
