Nigerians have reacted to a viral video of a former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, saying he doff his hat for Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

Obasanjo, while speaking at a birthday event of Rochas Okorocha expressed total appreciation for several humanitarian activities that Okorocha has been doing especially in the educational sector.

I don’t know if this is true or not, but as for Rochas, it was actually your Ibo people that started reducing the guy politically. Rochas is one SE politician with northern and western appeal. Check all the threads here on nairaland when he was a governor, you’ll see your brothers as they’re always cursing him and how Rochas has destroyed imo… Why did they do all these? Simply cuz Rochas was in Apc. Your brothers no like you from home, how outsider wan take you highly serious?

The matter started going far for Rochas when he was trying to let his son-in-law replaced him. Imo Apc stakeholders disagreed and the rest is history..

I don’t know about the rest but I’m damn sure of those two mentioned above.

Tinubu was elected governor in 1999 and 2003 under AD. He formed AC in 2006 and jumped ship.

Buhari ran under ANPP in 1999, 2003 and 2007. He formed CPC and ran with CPC in 2011.

If you genuinely think that Buhari didn't want to handover to Tinubu, and that Tinubu simply outflanked everyone, then you are as naive as they come. No northerner will ever had over to anyone feom the south that they don't have some sort of agreement with. And if Buhari felt strongly against Tinubus presidency, he had so many options as to what to do. All these talks about Tinubu buying his way through or showcasing his "sophisticated strategy skills" are simply bunkum. Tales emanating from the Lagos ibadam express way mercenary press to cover up what really happened.

When it comes to impact in the Education sector, Obi can't even lace Rochas shoes. Man virtually built mega schools throughout the federation with free tuition. Nobody holds that kind of record presently in Nigeria. God bless Rochas Okorocha!

I lived in Jos in the 90s and at a point I thought Rochas was an Hausa man, he has been doing charity across North and South West long before he joined politics so he doesn't need to rub shoulders with anyone in Abuja because he was way bigger than many politicians.
Ibos don't celebrate Rochas enough because they don't know his value, he is respected in the North by all because they know what he done for the people, he is also respected in Ibadan where many has benefited from his free education for decades.

Secondly I am not Ibo and I don't depends on charity or benefited directly from his charity works but you saying he spend peanuts for his philanthropy works shows either you are a kid born in 2000s or ignorance of who Rochas was before becoming a goveenor.

Common sense should also tell you that not everyone will rule Nigeria, many people including Atiku, Amechi, Osibanjo, Akande, MKO, Olu, Wike and many others failed in their bid ro rule Nigeria not just Rochas.

He failed his people as governor but that doesn't take away the fact that he is a good man and generous man, the first time I met him in Jos was 1992 and I was 18 years at the time. Those has benefited directly from his generosity will always appreciate him just as those of who has been aware of works from the 90s will.

As a Yoruba dude, that Rochas I duff my hat for you just dey make me smile like a girl wey wan chop banana because if someone did something commendable, make we duff hat for the person regardless of the tribe that person comes from.

The federal government should have acquired the university for a Federal university in Okorocha's senatorial district where no federal presence exists, as honour to Okorocha for introducing APC to his district.

His excellence Senator Bola Hamed Tinubu have never change party since 1999.
Chief S O. Idowu and Senator Owelle Anayo Rochas Okricha has done much than any other person in Nigeria in philanthropy.

Senator Rochas Okorocha built a free secondary school infront of my house in Ibadan. No school fees, free 3 pairs of uniforms, free school bus and a free meal per day. Only the poor are allowed to enroll.
May God made him president soon in Jesus name.
