Two RSIEC Commissioners Resign In Rivers State by alcaptainero(op): 12:51am On Mar 08, 2025
Amdist the ongoing political impasse in Rivers state and following the invitation by the state house of assembly to the RSIEC chairman and his commissioners, two of the commissioners has resigned their position. Recall that the commission has rushed to announce a date for another round of council elections after the supreme court judgement annulled the one it conducted last October due to violation of electoral laws.

I want to ask please. Many Rivers people bear Chibuike, Emenike etc., and other names most Igbos bear. I am yearning to know if the names mean the same thing as it does in Igbo or does it mean sth else?

For example, Chibuike means God is my stronghold/strength, I guess. Does it mean the same thing in Rivers?

The governor will now have to nominate fresh persons to fill the vacancies and they must be approved by the house.

A good name is better than riches.

They don't want their names to be soiled.

Fubara, do the needful.
Re: Two RSIEC Commissioners Resign In Rivers State by mach7(m): 4:12am On Mar 08, 2025
Wike at work.

On a side note, I expect political appointees including the commissioners and board chairmen to start resigning.

You can't build something on nothing. In the eyes of the law, none of them were duly appointed to the positions that they occupy as they weren't screened by the House of Assembly.

Furthermore, if the Assembly decide to be harsh, they report them to ICPC and EFCC for receiving illegal salaries and emoluments.

Na wa for Rivers State. grin

You can only pull such stunt with Federal backing.
Fubara actually has no cards left.

Rivers State can explode anytime going by the recent events. The people seem to be with the governor while the Federal government seem hellbent in taking the State at all costs.
Re: Two RSIEC Commissioners Resign In Rivers State by Nahunger(m): 5:29am On Mar 08, 2025
No need to say much, my concern is for the innocent citizens of Rivers not to be deprived their means of livelihood because of people who will leave the leadership in the next 6 years for a fresh group of people to control.

Meanwhile note

it is only a Nigerian girl you will see preparing for marriage and she only has #5k or less in her account.
With a mind blowing milage!!

It is only a Nigerian girl that knows what she deserves, but has 0 account balance, no job and her parents can't even afford to give her what she thinks she deserves.

It is only a Nigerian girl that believe what she deserves should be funded by a man's pocket.

Very delusional lot.

Wike will surely see the war he is calling for. Thank God Niger delta militants are already on rampage. Tinubu is the unwise one here. I know he will soon abandon Wike when the polity is too hot. Ijaw are not the type that will cow down easily. They will make sure their demand is met. Even if federal government declare state of emergency, that's where the real war will begin.

The names means you should come and take over Rivers State and chase the owners of Rivers State away so you can have their oil, gas and lands.

The name means you own Rivers State!

Do you know the chibuike Amaechi has Rotimi as his name too? Why are the Yoruba's not claiming to own Rivers State?

This is a Red Flag for the Wise. The Governor should not allow the noisemakers around him to lead him into the Pit. The Supreme Court should respected and this charade of arrogance must stop.

Re: Two RSIEC Commissioners Resign In Rivers State by sirpharrell(m): 6:42am On Mar 08, 2025
You can not beat Wike at this game.

I guess the governor and his coterie of bad advisers did not see this coming. They have been boasting that they will conduct the LGA election no matter what may. Now see how Wike crashed their dreams.

For those that do not know, these resignations (and I hear that there will be more) mean that RSIEC is now not properly constituted. Those who resigned have to be replaced before they can organise an election and all nominations as commissioners of RSIEC have to be screened and cleared by the House of Assembly. Now use your tongue and count your teeth.

The fact is that Governor Sim is like a dog who, being painted with stripes, thinks himself a tiger and challenges the lion to a duel. A more astute politician would have lobbied these Assembly members to his side. This I have advocated on this platform several times and as far back as 2023. But he allowed himself to be deceived by Falana, Ugochinyere and co.
Re: Two RSIEC Commissioners Resign In Rivers State by Barrywilly(m): 6:44am On Mar 08, 2025
The solution to this matter is simple. The governor should swallow his pride and negotiate with the House. I wonder why he finds it so difficult to buy like 10 of them to his side all these while. All this his gragra that he will mobilise the youths (aka militants) to hold on to power will only earn him a state of emergency and tossed out of power.

All these ones na small pikin talk. Jonathan lost election and in spite of all the threats, nothing happened. You think it is Fubara that any Niger Delta youth will risk his life for? Please stop reasoning like a child, that is if you are not one.

After what wike did at the presidential election in 2023, they can't stand losing the state to fubara and PDP.

They can't stand river state slipping out their hands.
