The country will now face exactly the same thing Libya went through. A slow and systematic destruction..., well coordinated, ruthlessly executed. Lakatia is about to become the new Sirt in Libya or Fallujah in Iraq. They made the big mistake when they turned tails and allowed the "islamists" to take over.

There is no way Isreal will allow Syria to function effectively again, unless you have a leadership willing to be pawns for Isreal in Damascus. The islamists might even have had Jewish support in their fight with Assad, but I'm not sure they are willing to go the full hug and say, recognise Isreals sovereignty over the Gollan heights..., and that's where the rub is.. They have to, or they will always watch their backs..

Syria is way too close to Isreal, has a long border with Isreal and is huge enough to provide a comfortable base for those baying for Isreals annihilation. The leadership in Telaviv will never allow such threats to exist so close..., which makes sense in realpolitik. The problem is that when you introduce these sorts of scorched earth policies to annihilate societies desperate to annihilate you, you either have to go the full hug (which will obviously mean a genocide and so unacceptable), or live with the realisation that sometimes in the future, the survivors of these carnage, will ultimately come back for their own pound of flesh. That means endless an endless cycle of violence. And that is the middle east as we know it..

The crux of the matter: Isreal never signed a peace treaty with Syria after the Arab-Israeli wars. Isreal annexed the Golant heights after the 6 day wars and while it has given back lands taken from the Egyptians and the Jordanians duringthis period, this were because those countries signed a peace treaty with Isreal which still holds uptill this day.

Syria didn't and so the Golant heights which was a part and parcel of Syria before the war, was never given back to Syria..., and was later totally annexed as a "forever part of Isreal" some years back. That is a major flash point in the conflict between Isreal and Syria, and part of the reasons why Isreal wants the Assad family out of Damascus, which made the Assad family to reach for support wherever they will get it, including from Iran. Getting support from Shia Iran rilled up Sunni Muslims across the gulf, and that led the Saudis, the Qataris, the Emiratis and others to support any attempt to get rid of the Assads. This led to the Syrian civil war.

Forget the nonsense you were told about the "Arab revolution" abi "Arab Spring"". It was just a facade, a smokescreen to outflank non comforming despots across the middle east region, especially since the US and the Isrealis are now in good terms with most of the new generation Kings and Emirs. BTW, Isreal has gone ahead to annex more lands around the Golant heights since Assads fall. And you know that no serious government in Damascus will accept this. So ..., expect more violence in the coming years..

Let Syria retaliate in the slightest way, they'll start crying yenyenyen like they're doing for October 7th. Well you evidently are not a student of history, the problems in the middle east started between 1944 and today. They are the true victims of the fallout of the second world war, but before that they also suffered the west's desire to end the Chinese dominance and control of the trade from the mid 1800s, the opium wars brought them into that issue, but the real mess started with the fall of the othorman empire.

Before then countries like Iran , Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon etc were progressive and peaceful but the British used these Muslim clerics to dislocate the growing democratic societies and royal houses that had control of those countries. In Afghanistan and Iran that was the case, in Egypt the Muslim brotherhood rose out of no where as opposition to the government in power and they were sponsored by Western interests.
