Right now, a massive 8.1km stretch of 1600mm Diameter Ductile Iron (DI) pipes is being laid within the Adiyan premises. These pipes will transport raw water into a cutting-edge 320,000m³/day water treatment plant, ensuring that every drop meets World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Lagos is on a mission, and the Adiyan Water Works I & II is at the center of it all. We will ensure that clean, pipe-borne water flow seamlessly into homes, schools, and businesses—every single day. That’s the vision, and trust us, the @jidesanwoolu led administration is making it happen.

It’s not just government officials who are excited about this! One of Nigeria’s most authentic storytellers on two wheels, the incredible vlogger, Authentic Cyclist @edward_wonder also made a stop at Adiyan Water Works to authenticate our excitement. With his signature blend of adventure and urban storytelling, he captured the sheer scale of this engineering feat—cycling through the vast premises, showcasing the intricate pipe-laying process, and bringing the project to life for his audience.

This is the future of Lagos!

There's really no state with pipe borne water in Nigeria. 😂

This is really good but make I ask,is the pipe not too shallow on the surface. I was hoping for around 10ft depth so that even with further development of the city, nothing will touch the pipe

Hopefully pipelines can be fixed in a lot of the communities that do not have pipelines. New areas have developed over the years and pipelines are not located there.

Old neighborhoods like Ilupeju, Surulere, Victoria Island, Yaba, Anthony, Eric Moore, Ajegunle, Apapa, Jibowu, etc have pipelines running through them. Hopefully new areas like Ajah, Dopemu, Magboro, Ikotun, Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko, Ilogbo, Ikola, Abaranje/Okerube, Agbara, Command, Ayobo, etc can benefit from this. It should take plenty of time to lay the water pipelines, but hopefully the resources can be found to fix the pipelines.

Thank you to Lagos state government and the Governor.

It's very craze bro. Since 1960, there is no single state that thought of providing drinkable water. Past and present government doesn't see the need for it and they all travel abroad where they will open up a tap and drinkable water flows to their cups. Nothing like buying pure water or bottle water.

The water produced will harm residents or consumers as long as they don't use nonferric aluminum sulphate loaded with lead (PB)

Enugu means city on the hill. Enugu always had pipe borne water in some parts, just like Lagos state. The major challenge that Enugu faces, just like other cities and towns on hilly and mountainous areas is water depth. Water seems to dry up leading to lack in those areas.

Constructing boreholes can be very expensive in those areas. For example, Lagos which is a lowland costs 150-250 k to construct boreholes depending on the areas. In Enugu, just like other hilly areas, one can spend cash much as 3m naira to construct boreholes, as depth matters.

Lagos has the challenge also around Ire Akari estate, Isolo, where water depth is deeper. Ire Akari is on the hilly side. But if you find water in the area, just like in other cities and towns, it is much better than you can find in other areas.

Why are you confusing an endless recycling propaganda path with being on the right path? Is this the enduring effect of ebilokan extreme poverty on the brain huh

Is it 2020 yet on APC’s balablu propaganda calendar of tomorrow will never come?

aresa:
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has said the state will meet the demand of potable water supply to the residents by 2020. The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday after inspecting the ongoing construction in the Adiyan waterworks. He said the project was designed to put an end to scarcity of potable water supply to the residents.

The governor, who also inaugurated an 18 classroom block at Sonmori Senior Comprehensive High School, College Road, Ifako Ijaiye and First African Primary School, Iju–Ishaga, said the All Progressives Congress would continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people.

Fashola said, “The construction work in the Adiyan waterworks phase II is in top gear. The contractor has shown that his men could work at night and hopefully, this will speed up the construction of the waterworks. “This is the third major waterworks in the state. The first was the Iju waterworks which was built in 1910. There was no major intervention in the state until 1991 when Adiyan waterworks phase I was constructed. That was a long time and the population continued to grow in the state. “This is direct government funding. The long term plan is that we will need more of this to be able to hit the water demands of the residents of the state. The plan is that by 2020, we should be able to meet the plan of the citizens of the state.”

The governor explained that provision of water alone was never the answer to water scarcity, but the conservation of water. He said, “Like all utilities, one can never oversupply. So, to have adequate supply, it requires minimisation of waste and water conservation. “Work on the Ifako-Ijaiye mini stadium is ongoing and it will be completed on time. It is a commitment I made to them and I assured them that I will deliver it. And hopefully, we will finish it before 2015.”

Then you do not know Enugu. Relying on social media does not help. Visit the state and see things for yourself. It is a tourism state.

Every state has water problems. Lagos state has its own, just like Ogun, Ekiti, Jigawa, etc. Sanwo Olu is addressing the Lagos situation, just as other governors try to address theirs.

Lagos sits on the bank of the Atlantic Ocean, yet we see citizens carrying containers from street to street, in search of water. It is a common problem in the entire nation and will take the intervention of governments at all levels to fix. Nigerians deserve to live well.

Erosion is a common problem also in some SW and SS states. Ogun state for example has been dealing with that for some time. The reason Lagos placed a ban ion unlicensed dredging is to arrest erosion in some areas too.

is not always dug too deep because of maintenance, and proper flow. Some are even placed on the surface if required. Lastly, no infrastructure is allowed to solely rest on its path.
