Akpabio's will soon return to the floor as a mere senator.
You are in breach of Nairaland procedural rule and will be suspended for six months. Same as your idol Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan who breached Senate rule. Your charge : Attention-seeking through the use of garish, offensive and hideous bold red fonts.

Your senseless, humdrum and incoherent rambling, you think make sense, the Nairaland committee on ethics will graciously ignore and not sanction you for. 😎

Lol, Look at a picture of Akpabio arguing with Saraki and pointing fingers at Saraki (senate president) in the senate on sitting arrangements. He shouted and brought down all the senate activities. It took 4-5 senators to ask him to calm down. Saraki did not suspend him.
But today Apkabio is suspending people for staring at him too long

No doubt about that. The same Akpabio was unruly and did exactly what Natasha did over seating arrangement while Saraki was SP, he was never suspended, but suddenly, he is suspending another person for following his footsteps.

Two wrongs do not make a right. That someone have been committing crime does give a license to commit it. The law might capture you during your own time.

While my father was alive, he was a teacher and later rose to becoming a principal in several secondary schs in Nigeria.

He tutored and nurtured several leaders of today.

Now the question goes back to you, of what use is your father and mother to the community and Nigeria at large.

And this Atiku you are supporting, what positive impact does he have on his home state "Adamawa state" not to even talk of Nigeria at large.

Foolish boy you are if you can't answer these my questions.
I have always told you people to leave your parents out of your banters. Your parents are not even aware that you are against each other so why insult them?

Mr. Senate President,

Allegations have been made against you. If you know they are false, then do the right thing: submit yourself to the Ethics Committee. Let them be the ones to come back and clear your name.

But running around on social media acting as the judge, jury, and executioner only makes you look guilty. It’s not helping your case, and your actions are only raising suspicion.

Your behavior of suspending anyone who dares to speak out against you is not going unnoticed. Nigerians are not foolish. We’ve had people like you in the past, in the military, who falsely accused others of coups and shot them on the firing squad without hesitation. Now, you are doing the same thing in the Senate. Anyone who dares to exercise their democratic right to question you ends up suspended, like some kind of mob boss or cartel leader. No one has the right to challenge you.

During Saraki's senate you also caused an uproar on seating arrangement. I remember very well. I have attached the picture in case you forgot. Saraki did not suspend you !!!!

The Senators are not your commissioners. And just because you hand out juicy committee chairmanships in exchange for loyalty, doesn’t mean you own them. That kind of quid pro quo won’t last long. I promise you that.
Stop trying to be clear by a half. Sen. Natasha was suspended for flouting the Senate rules which was captured on video. When Akpabio fluted the rules under the leadership of Saraki, he apologised; hence, no extended punishment was meted out on him, but here, Sen Natasha refused to apologise even when her other colleagues urged her to do so.

If Natasha has a case, she should approach the courts as she has done. Don't let your hate for Akpabio becloud your judgement.

No.

What are the issues?

(1) Senator Natasha Akpoti's seat was moved which was a routine matter. Instead of going to her seat, she started speaking from where she was not assigned. She was told she could not speak from there and she began throwing tantrums. She said her voice was being silenced by the senate president. At that point, she did not complain of sexual harassment.

(2) She was on Arise News to say that the senate president held her hand while showing her around his mansion with her husband walking behind and saying to her: "you like?" When she said she liked, he then said they could be coming there for "quality time". He allegedly said this with her husband around. She said that later, she met Akpabio in his office over his reluctance to allow her bill to be read which led Akpabio to say that "I am the chief presiding officer of the senate, if you take care of me, I'd take care of you".

What has now been established?

(1) The senator obtained a court order to stop the probe of her outburst on the floor of the senate but submitted a petition on the sexual harassment which she wanted the senate to look into. Why did she not want her misbehavior to be treated but she wanted her petition to be looked into? Was the petition an afterthought as an instrument of self-preservation seeing that the rules were flouted?

(2) She said her husband instructed she should not travel out with Akpabio; there are reports that she did travel with Akpabio for their parliamentary conferences.

(3) There is still no case on the sexual assault filed in court. As we advised her, she'd not get fair hearing from the senate. So the best place was to file a petition in court. I am not sure Akpabio has immunity.

(4) What informed making the accusations on Arise Television, creating a buzz and only submitting a petition to the senate afterwards? She played her cards in public and gave her colleagues the opportunity to prepare to ambush her. She did not even align with the rules of submitting a petition which indicates that she was not properly acquainted with the rules of the senate.

What are now the expectations?

(1) Let her go to court to submit a cross-petition on the sexual harassment matter as Mrs Akpabio has one running. I doubt if the senate will give her fair hearing. We want the sexual allegation to be investigated by a body without a dog in the fight.

(2) Let the facts be stated: she was punished for breaching the senate rules. She did breach their rules.

(3) It has nothing to do with being a woman. Abdul Ningi, Ali Ndume, Arthur Nzeribe, Ovie Omo-Agege and some others were suspended from the senate for bringing the senate to ridicule. Natasha Akpoti did bring the senate to ridicule by quarreling on the floor of the senate. Yes, we cannot tell her how to process her pains, but the senate had rules for her to make a report. She did not do this until she had done sufficient damage. In the house of representatives, Dino Melaye and some others were suspended for fighting in the house. Dino had brought a whistle and was blowing it in the house to disrupt proceedings before fighting erupted.

(4) Atiku should not mine political capital from this. There are women in the senate. They have never been subjugated. If they were, how come past female senators have not publicly supported Natasha Akpoti?

Stop whitewashing tyranny with technicalities. Senate rules aren’t holy scripture—they’re meant to uphold justice, not shield corruption. Natasha’s “offense” was refusing to kneel before arrogance, not breaking any law.

You say Akpabio apologized under Saraki—yes, because Saraki wasn’t weaponizing Senate rules to silence dissent. The difference? Natasha dared to confront power, and instead of debating her, they ambushed her with suspension.

You call it hate for Akpabio—no, it’s called conscience. If your idea of loyalty is defending a man who uses his position to gag opposition and duck accountability, then maybe it’s your own judgment that’s beclouded.

She went to court—good. But she also has the right to speak in the Senate chamber. That’s what she was elected to do. Not to clap while Akpabio plays emperor in a democratic robe.

This isn’t about hate. It’s about truth—and it’s burning through your excuses.

I'm not an Akpabio supporter—in fact, I dislike the man. I used to like Natasha, but for the sake of setting the record straight, we shouldn't ignore the key differences between Natasha’s situation and Akpabio’s during Saraki’s tenure.

At the time Saraki indicted Akpabio, there was no enforced sitting arrangement. If you watch the full video, Senator Lawan gave a lengthy speech on the need to establish and enforce a structured seating arrangement in accordance with Senate rules. Saraki agreed and instructed that a structure be drafted—but this happened after the Akpabio incident.

Another key difference is how Akpabio handled the aftermath of his outburst. Despite his initial foolish reaction, he allowed himself to be calmed by colleagues, who persuaded him to apologize to the Senate on the same day, during the same sitting. Both Akpabio and Natasha acted rashly, but unlike Akpabio, Natasha continues to insist she was in the right. Despite being given ample time to apologize and multiple attempts—both within and outside the Senate—to mediate and resolve the issue, she has refused to back down.

That the case of sexual harassment only came up after the threat of punishment for contravening the Senate standing rules raises concerns about the timing and motivation behind the allegation. The fact that it surfaced only after she faced consequences for violating Senate rules suggests that it may have been a strategic move rather than a genuine pursuit of justice. While it doesn’t automatically mean the claim is false, but the timing makes it harder to separate legitimate grievances from political tactics, in this case, an intentional deflection of attention away from her misbehavior to Akpabio's alleged advances.

Oga, stop hiding behind legal catchphrases you barely understand.

Yes, the onus of proof lies on the accuser in court, not on the Senate floor, where the first response to serious allegations shouldn’t be intimidation and suspension, but transparency and due process.

Natasha raised an alarm. The correct move is to investigate, not to gag her. If Akpabio is so squeaky clean, why not welcome an ethics committee probe to clear his name instead of jumping to punish her?

You want evidence? Let a proper process drag it out. But silencing her for 6 months smells like panic, not innocence.

This isn’t a courtroom—it’s a legislative chamber. When senators start getting suspended for asking questions, democracy is already on life support.

So before you chant “onus of proof” like a broken record, ask yourself:
What kind of innocent man fears the truth being dug out?

Mrs Akpabio has no office in Nigeria. A wife cannot charge her husband's accuser to court.
All these are distractions. A Senator has accused the senate president of harassment.
The case should be investigated by the senate committee on ethics
It was done to Senator Abbo, and Remi Tinubu was one of the people who questioned him.
Akpabio is using the ethics committee and the gavel to silent everybody that has a contrary opinion to his.

Its funny how Akpabio did not need his wife to suspend Natasha for 6 months.
But all of a sudden he needs his wife to clear himself of sexual harassment.

God bless you. I too wonder how Nigeria, with so much human and material endowments, is at this stage today. Atiku is the biggest, most desperate and most power-hungry charlatan in Nigerian politics. "Evil thrive when good men do nothing" is a saying related to ordinary men in situations where their brave actions is required to save the day on behalf of the greater good.

Talk less of leaders like Atiku who must be held to higher standards of being society's brave and fearless watchdogs in troubled time. Atiku can never live down how he abandoned Deborah who was stoned to death and burned, in the most barbaric way a human being can be executed, merely for utterances she made.

He deleted his post about her and, showing such was an act of deliberate leadership dereliction of duty/responsibility, he has not ever spoken about justice for poor Deborah. I cannot even imagine the anguish her parents and family must be in over how their beloved daughter was killed Brutally for her mere utterances some found offensive, and decided to summarily execute her in a barbaric manner without trial, while terrorists who have killed many Nigerians are being 'rehabilitated'.

Atiku also said nothing, from his Dubai base, during Buhari's Fulani-abetted reign of terror against our entire nation. All in all, Atiku is not someone balanced, progressive and knowledgeable Nigerians can ever support to be our President.

Crystal clear he only wants power for the sake of it and not because he is progressive and desirous of the best for Nigerians. Especially those who are underprivileged, most defenceless and most disadvantaged.

I have always asked, to which I have never gotten a satisfactory answer, why Atiku, with his vast wealth, never tries to make a difference in the lives of even his own Adamawa folks in non-election years, when he prefers to abandon Nigerians to spends all his time in Dubai, yet he shows up in virtually every election years, since 2007, demanding to be President using any political Party that will give him their Presidential ticket.

Everything screams "desperado with nothing to offer". That he is still popularly supported validates why you and most sensible Nigerians will naturally be given to wondering "how we got here".

Well put, another incredibly powerful even if lengthy post. I doff my proverbial hat for you this sunny Sunday morning.

Those Obidients expecting Atiku to join Peter Obi in a merger should have a read about the person that they want their oga to jump into bed with. He will betray Peter Obi in the end anyway, same as Bubu tried to betray President Tinubu by backing Osibanjo despite their agreement

Per the abandonment of Adamawa people thing. It's a typical Northern politician tactic that has always worked. Keep them poor and illiterate to do your bidding.

Amongst all Nigerian politicians, and in truth all of them are unprincipled chancers to a man and woman, he stands out as the worst for me by a country mile.
