It's very craze bro. Since 1960, there is no single state that thought of providing drinkable water. Past and present government doesn't see the need for it and they all travel abroad where they will open up a tap and drinkable water flows to their cups. Nothing like buying pure water or bottle water.
It was working in most places in Lagos in the early 80's till early 2000.....e g Surulere , Festac , old ojo road, Apapa, Ebute meta, Yaba , Lagos Island, Ikeja ......
But poor maintenance destroyed the system. Now it has stopped in majority of those places.....but still working in some places in Apapa

To be very honest this Sanwo is doing his best and he must handover to someone who will continue from wherever he stops.

There's really no state with pipe borne water in Nigeria. 😂
You can check out what PDP’s Makinde is doing in Oyo state, unlike the vuvuzela Lagos APC progreThief propagandists who hype private estates to cover up their failures in providing ordinary water for every single building.

Oyo restores water supply to communities after years of disruption
7th October 2024

The Oyo State Water Corporation announced at the weekend that it has restored water supply to residents in some parts of the state after many years of service disruption due to technical challenges faced by the corporation.

The corporation disclosed that repairs of leakages and bursts in other water pipelines located within the state are ongoing.

A statement issued by the corporation’s Chairman, Elias Adeojo, stated that operations had since commenced at major waterworks and booster stations to complement the water supply to Ibadan and its environs.

Adeojo noted that the water supply had been restored to Molete, Bode, Labiran, Beyeruka, the Eleyele axis, and Bashorun-Oluwo Nla, among others.

It was working in the early 80s because of the real progressive government of Jakande, who didn’t squeeze out IGR from the public and he didn’t borrow money like a lunatic.

But guess what? Abacha’s PTF associate, who T-Pain sold as an incorruptible APC politician to replace Jonathan and PDP, locked Jakande up for corruption. shocked

eluquenson:
REVISITING SOME OF THE LATEEF JAKANDE'S GOVERNMENT ACHIEVEMENTS FROM OCTOBER 1979 TO DECEMBER 1983 (FOUR YEARS AND 3 MONTHS) IN LAGOS STATE

* His government built low cost houses in Ijaiye, Dolphin, Oke-Afa, Ije, Abesan, Iponri, Ipaja, Abule Nla, Epe, Amuwo-Odofin, Anikantamo, Surulere, Iba, Ikorodu, Badagry, Isheri/Olowu, Orisigun etc.

* His government established the Water Management Board and Waste Disposal Board on the 18th of August, 1980.

* His government constructed the Adiyan Water Works to increase water supply in the state to 18.16 million litres per day.

* His government modernized and expanded the Iju Water Works which was first commissioned in 1915. This increased daily capacity from 159 million to 204 million litres per day.

WHO SAYS 4 YEARS IN OFFICE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR MEANINGFUL ACHIEVEMENTS?

IT'S A FACT THAT 90% OF GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1999 WITH REVENUES AT THEIR DISPOSAL CANNOT BOAST OF A QUARTER OF THESE ACHIEVEMENTS EVEN WITHIN THEIR EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE.

If he is doing his best with ANNOUNCEMENTS, then what are you going to say when he actually gets the water flowing through pipelines to each and every single Lagos buildinghuh

Did Fashola not make the same announcement about adequate water supply for 20 million Lagosians by 2020?

So, are you a wiseman or a gullible ignoramus for applauding this recycled announcement huh

If some parts in Edo and East have access to that kind of water on island, you will know water is not a major problem in Lagos. There is water, but treatment is the issue.

It’s unbelievable and embarrassing because when I was growing up there was nothing like sachet pure water , we simply just fetch and drink from the tap at home , all those facilities are dead now , we used to have state water corporation and waterboard then , imagine how much money government will be making from water bills alone

Public utilities are sources of revenues to the government but I just don’t understand nowadays

They started buy making the water unreliable , water go for a whole day and we start looking for water everywhere like petrol scarcity, Fela had to 🎶 sing Government magic

Fela Song
Water dey go! Water dey Come! Government magic …..”

Everyone had to resort to drilling boreholes and wells

Government providing water is a good thing but do you think it's what Nigeria need in this economic quagmire that we are?. I don't think so. There's unemployment everywhere and you're thinking of blocking other people's source of income?. There are thousands of individuals that supply water in Lagos, they've invested millions and billions in the business and you think blocking their business is healthy for our economy?.
Government can't just do things because it's good, except in a socialist state, they consider economic impacts too.
There's a reason why US don't have universal healthcare insurance, there's a reason why USA don't have a national railway system that connects every single state...

My first thoughts....and we are just laymen ....and can see problems arising out of this. Besides what you said .... I think it should be even deeper than normal because of the mentality of our people to use their "smartness" to short circuit any system .... and they are very experienced in tapping mains. If they can easily tap metal oil pipes ...why wouldn't they be tapping composite pipes close to the surface? ....and make business selling water?
Fashola always starting massive projects and never finishing them. Have Lagosjans finished paying back the loan? The figures given for water requirement are from 2018 .... this project now being picked up is from even before then. Did they do an update? .... what is the present need? No doubt ...the slumps would have to be massive ....but what about the water source? .... what steps are in place to prevent pollution? ...from dumping ?...whether it be garbage and worse ...chemicals as in industrial waste. ...oil..etc .? ...I just hope it would be protected... laws put in place for super heavy fines and imprisonment for those who violate. Lastly ...why not have massive overhead tanks and allow gravity to give water pressure instead of pumps? Happy that somebody see it fit to focus on potable water as a priority.

Enugu means city on the hill. Enugu always had pipe borne water in some parts, just like Lagos state. The major challenge that Enugu faces, just like other cities and towns on hilly and mountainous areas is water depth. Water seems to dry up leading to lack in those areas.

Constructing boreholes can be very expensive in those areas. For example, Lagos which is a lowland costs 150-250 k to construct boreholes depending on the areas. In Enugu, just like other hilly areas, one can spend cash much as 3m naira to construct boreholes, as depth matters.

Lagos has the challenge also around Ire Akari estate, Isolo, where water depth is deeper. Ire Akari is on the hilly side. But if you find water in the area, just like in other cities and towns, it is much better than you can find in other areas.
ire aakari water gave me typhoid when I attend Apata...plus nothing hilly about that area..Lagos is mostly a plain marsh , swampy land .

are you freaking kidding me?so because people are importing electrical generator and solar power, Government should not provide conducive power to the people, because someone is selling pure water which was an aberration when I waa young Government should not provide pipe borne watee again..go to Abuja and see how people are enjoying pipe borne water which they still pay for .
